Hi! Many of you provided very useful feedback about the 2007 F430 Coupe (Rosso Corsa/Beige with 4,259 miles) I was looking at with Symbolic Motors in La Jolla, CA. A big Thank You to all who weighed in with advice.

The car was everything I hoped it would be, backed up with a very strong PPI performed by Bobileff Motors, and I closed the deal last Wednesday.

So I have achieved a lifelong goal - I finally own a Ferrari! Unfortunately, apart from the test drive, I still seem no closer to achieving my other lifelong goal of actually driving it l!

Let me explain: The only issue picked up on the PPI, which I had also noticed myself, was a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning light. Symbolic had replaced all four TPMS wheel sensors as part of the incoming service they did on the car (SD3 was showing low battery voltages) but car was still throwing the light.

On Wednesday morning Symbolic sent the car over to Ferrari of San Diego for them to fix the problem (FoSD had supplied the new sensors.) FoSD reported that "Symbolic had installed the wrong sensors" (i.e. FoSD had supplied the wrong sensors!!) No problem - would only take 1 to 1.5 hrs to fix.

That was Wednesday. So now it's Monday, FoSD is closed for the day, and problem is still not fixed. FoSD just lost their Service Manager, Elizabeth, last Friday, they are "short staffed", and nobody really seems to know what's going on.

So at this point I really have no realistic idea of when the car will be ready and so cannot organize shipping back to Arizona. Is this what everyone means by "First World Problems" or do I just need to take more chill pills? ;)

I dealt with this myself. We replaced the TPM's with no change at all to the warning light. Turned out to be the TPM electronic control unit which had to be replaced. Somewhere around a thousand dollars by the time it was finished. Good luck

    First of all,
Congratulations!!!! Great looking car with nice options. Sometimes Ferrari reminds of a military organization. "Hurry up and wait". When there is an issue we, the Ferrari owners, are hurrying to figure out the issue and fix it as soon as we can. And then unfortunately we are at the mercy of the dealers and we have to wait. Don't get disappointed, I'm sure your car will be fixed soon and once you get to drive it you will get a big smile on your face, you will forget all about it. Good luck!

Congratulations! I love that steering wheel. I hope that they are able to sort your TPMS issue soon.

Glad to hear that you got your problem resolved. I'm hoping that my solution will be found sooner rather than later! Funnily enough, TPMS and rear parking sensors were two options on my car that I'd rather it didn't have - more things to go wrong and only marginal, if any, benefit.

In the grand scheme of things you're so obviously correct :)

Thanks! I especially like the carbon steering wheel. Along with the Challenge grill these were two options I was willing to hold out for. The red stitching was a big plus for me too.

Thanks for your feedback and encouragement! I'm sure I'll forget all my angst as soon as the car arrives :)

BTW: It sounds like FoSD may be going through some kind of reorganization which might explain why things are running less smoothly than might normally be the case.

Congratulations, great looking car. If I were you, I'd call the General Manager of the dealership and explain the situation. If they are short staffed, that's not your fault - no reason your life should be held up because they are having some turnover!!

Congrats Dave! I just purchased a very similar F430 and completely understand your anxiety. It will be worth the wait.

Thanks Keith! Yes, I saw your pictures of new car a few days ago - looks great! Hope you are enjoying it. I like the black interior pretty much equal with the beige, especially with the red stitching which is such a great contrast.

Thanks Raj! I got word from my sales guy at Symbolic, Chris Comet, that FoSD MAY have finished the work and that my car will be ready to come back to Symbolic for final detailing today. Chris has been great at keeping me in the loop and he knows that I prefer things being done right above all else! I'm going to call FoSD shortly and see if I can confirm.

Update: FoSD finished the TPMS work and the car is back with Symbolic. I have booked transportation with JP Logistics (per various recommendations) and they gave me a prelim delivery estimate of "April 7th or earlier" depending on when they can pick up and on their routing detail. Getting closer!

Oh man, I know your pain. I've lived through a service department reorganization at our local Ferrari dealer and thankfully kept a clear email trail detailing everything that was on-going. It took a while to get the new person up-to-speed on my car's issues, promises made by the outgoing service manager and eventually it all worked out well.

Good luck to you and before you know it, you'll be loving your awesome car at home.

Dave: SWEET!!!!! It's gonna be a fun Spring and a prelude to an awesome Summer for you man!!!
I had my car at the mechanic and the detailer for about 1 month prior to bringing her home after I actually signed the check. Thankfully, mine was a local car so I didn't have to wait for a shipper.
