Here is my newbie attempt at helping...

My A/C unit works 100 percent after replacing the 30A fuse located in the trunk closest to the passenger's wiper.

You say you replaced the fuse.It may sound silly but was it blown?

That "hidden" fuse isn't always blown...the blade fuse holder itself can give way, and replacing the fuse can sometimes free up enough soot to make it temporarily work a bit longer.

In later model 348's Ferrari changed from a blade fuse holder to a bullet fuse holder, and this seems to be the preferred long-term solution.

    What a silly question! lol

It was damaged (probably by the aftermarket CD changer that used to sit on it)... but didn't appear blown.

Rayman has posted a thread where he shows what to do with the console itself. Photos and explanations are included. Very good. I can not give you the thread because I do not know how to do that trick.

I have some problems with my A/C aswell.

Take a look at those discussions as well.

    Cheers,

It melted a 30 amp? I would keep an eye on it. That's a pretty big draw.

The current draw across that 30 amp fuse seems to be enough to generate a LOT of heat, causing the fuse or the fuse holder to melt. That is why they recommend that the plastic blade-style fuseholder be replaced with a glass stereo-type cylindrical fuseholder; it has vastly greater contact area between the fuse and the holder. Less heat, lasts much longer, less danger of burning out something in the wiring. The fuse doesn't generally blow because of a short in the wiring, it melts!

I never thought of that.I,m also having troubles with my A/C unit.I've sent it out twice and it still doesn't work.I m waiting for the weather and the opportunity to take it to my mechanic.I'm going to check that fuse though.I do have power going to the plug though.Maybe not enough to power the unit. Good luck it does seem to be a common problem.
