Thanks for all the comments here! I should be able to pick it up on Friday when I get back home. Seller is only 20 miles from my house!
I might consider Shadetree for older cars but Norwood would be my choice for a 348. Post some pics when you get your new car home. We love pics here. Never understood that on other forums but these cars are so great to look at that we can't get enough.
Norwood has a great rep, but is also pricey. You can do much of the maintenance yourself; majors are something you can aspire to. Welcome and again, congrats on your purchase. Anything you need to know about your car, you will find it here and everyone is willing to help you. That's what the Brotherhood is all about.
Saw your BaT post. Nice article. Will you please stop driving that thing and get the belts replaced before you suffer a melt down?! Carry on.
Whohoo! Betcha all those BAT naysayers sure feel good knowing they don't have to bear the great euphoric burden of ownership Enjoy it thoroughly! And I second the invitation to bring it to Colorado some time!
Hey Vince, I have it over at Norwood now and James is looking it over. Will be able to really drive it soon!
Thanks and a Colorado road trip is looking like a really good idea! yeah, quite a few BAT glass half empty folks chimed in for sure....
Excellent. Looks like a nice car and you really seem to enjoy it, so sure don't want to see something go wrong as early. Vince was only saying what I'm sure several of us were thinking.
I liked the follow-up post. Congrats! BaT Auction Success Story: Missed NSX Becomes First Ferrari | Bring a Trailer
Excellent! One less thing for me to worry about. Don't be afraid to pop for a rebuilt water pump if it is leaking at all. Also, the alternator bearing is a good thing to look at and is easily replaced. Use Hill tensioners, I guess you already know that. Get them from Ricambi here. Fuel filter replacements, for sure. They can look at the lifter biscuits but at 15k miles, these should be fine. Still, wouldn't hurt. Not much else to mess with besides the fluids. Get some 355 or 360 wheels and hit the road!
roger that. The service records show the last engine out service was back in 2001 so it is the thing to do. I think the belt is date stamped so we will know if it is a 2001 or if there was a more recent service, correct?
10 4 on the water pump. It is on the "look at it closely list". Thanks, didn't know about the alternator bearing. May do it just to be safe. For sure on the Hill Tensioners. And the fuel filters. Good info on the lifter biscuits. Will be over there tomorrow and will go over these with them to confirm. I picked up a set of 355 wheels from the seller with almost new Kumho's. I must say I do like the original wheel look for now. Question: The mouse system works fine but the shoulder belts are not clicked in. I understand the belts put a load on this system. Educate me on this please. Thanks!
Good question, really glad it worked out the way it did and I am just starting to learn and appreciate it. As Cynthia says it was meant to be! Why didn't I get a Ferrari a long time ago???
I leave all belts unbelted and let the mouse run its coarse on the track. I get in and then belt up the shoulder harness. That will turn off your dash warning light. The lap belt is just a good idea. You can keep the should harness attached to the mouse. When you exit the car, look up at the rear view mirror and you will see 2 rubber fingers near it. This is where the shoulder harness rests when you are not in the car, but they are still attached to the mice. No one uses these. It is a very silly system. Your best play is deactivate the mice when they are fully nested forward. Then use the other attachment points. I have an SS with the Kevlar seats so the design may be a bit different.
