Greetings, all, from Louisiana! After many years of lurking, I’m hoping to finally have something to contribute, as I recently acquired my first Ferrari: a 2008 599 GTB, Nero over Beige, with dealer-installed HGTE. I’ve been learning the car over the last few weeks, and I’m hopeful the community can help me with a couple of items I’m trying to sort:

First, the hood, when closed, seems to sit a little proud at the front edge across its entire width. There’s a slight bit of play in the latch, but that doesn’t seem abnormal. It’s tough to photograph, but is this much of the weatherstripping supposed to be visible?

If there’s an issue, can the latch position simply be adjusted downward after removing the front, under-hood cosmetic cover? Further, the bump stops at either edge seem more to be spinning rather than adjusting inward/outward – again, is this normal?

Second, in diagnosing a rattle coming from the passenger side, I noticed the upper left corner of the passenger foot well panel was missing a screw (marked in red). The upper right tab has its screw but seems to have been “glooped” in place (green) as it isn’t moving much with that screw partially removed. Further, there were several other screws missing where the flat panel attaches to the leather trim on the right and the carpeted tunnel piece on the left – presumably all evidence that this has been apart before but not reassembled very well.

Before discovering any of the foregoing, I removed the metal kickplate. Being generous in describing my forethought, I assumed either the panel was threaded or that it used some sort of captive nuts. That was wrong. The nuts simply fell behind the panel. After pulling the barely-attached damper pad from the back of the panel, one nut rolled out, and I was able to retrieve another with a magnet. Based on how the bottom two screws behaved, I’m not sure either was attached, so maybe I’ve found every loose part.

So: At this point, I could probably put things back together at least as well as before, but I’d really like to remove the footwell panel so that I could properly align it (the screws marked in blue did not come out smoothly due to contact with the panel), attach all four kickplate screws, re-glue the damper, etc. With screws removed, that panel isn’t moving as much as it should, though. From the attached image, there appear to be four tabs (yellow) into which the adjacent trim pieces fit. Is that right? Am I going to need to pull both of those to get the footwell panel off? Am I likely to do more harm than good?

Thank you for your patience on this long read, and I appreciate any help you can provide.
