Great to an active forum... question though.. my build date is January 1993 #96555 but the first registered date id 8/14 1993. Why is it listed as a 1994 model?
Build date is not what they use to determine model year, they use sale date as the model year. I have a 1995 348 Spider that has a build date tag of May 1994, but the title is 1995.
But isn't the OP saying his car was built and registered (sold) in 1993? Or being a a US car was August considered the 94 model year?
Sat on the showroom floor after the 355 was announced? Possible. Not sure how stellar the 348 sales were during the 94 and 95 years. Even the 93's I heard were iffy and the reason why the Serie Speciale model was created. Correct me if I'm wrong on this.
Thanks for all the feedback, you can tell I have a triple black? I'm assuming that's based on the 96555 vin number
Busy week here in Minneapolis. Saturday stopped into an great car event Autoplex in Chanhassen. Had to be 6-700 car's, so I was late showing up (sleepy gf) I was able to meet the much talked about Tim Keseluk and see his Red 348 along with another dude Jon and his white 348. Jon has just done with an engine out service on his own for "just about a 1K-1.5K" using Erine's instructions. Being a big BMW guy for the last 15 years and doing only basic work such as brakes and fluids, I'm looking forward to getting my hands dirty...under some of the great contributor's to this site. I feel like I got a good deal on this one owner heated garage (remember this is Minnesota)kept 348 17K miles. The belt service was done in 2005 so I know I'm taking my (timing belt) life into my own hands The previous owner had the service history documents in a folder marked Rolls Royce/Spider. Also not a huge Chrome wheel guy, the original owner got them in California on delivery of the car. The dude was 71 I should have asked if he requested them or had them plated
They look like 355 stock wheels. Rounder curves to match the body styling. I think the chrome looks good with black.
Pretty sure they are not 355 wheels. Look like 512TR wheels to me. I'll take them if you decide to sell them. 360 wheels are pretty easy to find and relatively cheap to buy.. Congrats and welcome to the brotherhood!
Just for reference, here is a poor soul that purchased a 348 with 355 wheels on the rear and 512TR wheels on the front. You can see the difference real well though. Image Unavailable, Please Login
