I took delivery of my first Ferrari yesterday—2008 F430. The car is beautiful and in great shape. I’ve already put about 250 miles on it.

Hoping someone here can give me some recs for mechanics when the need arises. Car was last serviced at H & S in Houston. Ideally, I’m hoping to find someone like that.

    Thanks in advance.

Congrats! I have the same model and year. Welcome to the Austin Ferrari community. You have a bunch of choices, in no particular order...

    Ferrari of Austin
Exotic power and performance in spicewood
    Brian Crall in Lakeway
    Mario Motorsport Cedar Park
    Moorespeed southeast Austin

And, as I mention to everyone, you might consider joining the Ferrari Club of America, we have a local chapter here in Austin
    https://ferrariclubofamerica.org/

And if you are on Facebook there is an active FCA Hill Country Chapter page

    Thanks!

I am not on FB but will check in here for opportunities to meet people.

Where do you take your car for service/repairs?

My 430 goes to the dealer. I take my Porsche to Moorespeed. Carl, Moorespeed’s Ferrari mechanic is top notch. I go to these two because they are the two closest to my house. I would use the other indy’s as well if they were closer.

Scroll down and see the post about the drive to Boerne Texas on October 17

Brian Crall serviced my 360 (previous car) several times. Highly recommend.

What James said. Brian is arguably the most knowledgeable Ferrari mechanic in the country. As such he’s a very busy guy.

+1 for Brian Crall. Did the major and valve guides on my 355 last year.

I’ve primarily used Josh at Exotic Performance (now in Spicewood). Only issue for me is he went from being 5 minutes away to an hour away now that he’s in Spicewood. Regardless, he’s worked on my F430 multiple times with no complaints. He’s friendly and knowledgeable, and has taken the time to answer my typically long list of questions patiently. In fact I’m picking it up this week after having a few issues that came up addressed.

Another plus for Brian Crall, just keep in mind he doesn’t work with aftermarket parts. For example, we discussed aftermarket headers (manifolds), but he said he would not install aftermarket ones due to potential for liability if any issues arise.

I do use aftermarket parts but only those that I believe in. I do use a specific aftermarket manifold on cars prior to having catalytic converters integral to the manifold. Breaking federal and state laws are not high on my list of priorities. I have had people want me to, at my expense install factory exhaust on their car after smog certification trouble arose several years later and threaten to turn me into authorities for failing to do it. Another experience I seek to avoid. Laws passed by legislators I did not vote for cannot be my responsibility to bypass. Sorry but it is my business on the line. We need to vote more carefully.

Someone here once asked if $300 was to much to remove the catalytic converters and install the customers bypass pipes. My response was how much is it worth to ask someone to commit a felony on your behalf that can cost him his business? I have seen shop owners get ruined for that. Sorry for not wanting to play the game.

Hi Brian, thanks for clarifying, the comment about not doing aftermarket wasn’t supposed to be a negative, hope it wasn’t taken as such. I apologize if it created any confusion. As I mentioned when we last spoke, I completely understand and respect your position. Ditto on voting more carefully. Hope you’re doing well!

Why would you say that Dale? Name me one time I have been anything but polite and helpful unless the guy was being an ass? Which in case you didn't notice is quite common here. Why I stay away. Would not have commented here but a client mentioned my name came up.
