    All,

I am about to embark upon the world of modern Ferrari ownership. I need some advice. I have been torn between getting a 2002 360 spyder 111K and a 2005 f430 hardtop for 126K both have roughly 4k and they are both from a reputable(at least I have been told) dealer. I haven't logged enough hours in the 430 to really "know" the car. I was wondering if any of you could give me some advice. Things like reliability(I will actually drive this thing every now and again), comfort ... blada blada.

Any input would be really appreciated.

    Thanks again,

    Lonny

I'd suggest posting this in the 360/430 section to get more feedback.

I've never owned either, but I'd rather have a 430 coupe than a 360 spider.

You're not going to do your reputation any favors associating with this motley crew.

Wait, I know who you hang out with now, it can only get better for you.

If not a DD Spider ALL DAY LONG BABY! Posted this over on the 360/430 thread too... I think the 360 is one of Ferrari's most beautiful designs and looks even BETTER as a Spider. Never been a big fan of the 430 coupe. I like the 430 Spider, the Scud, AND the 16M, but the plain 430 coupe just does not do it for me in any way. I think it is something about the front bumper, and I don't care for the tacked on look of the rear fender air intakes.

I say offer $102k on the spider and see what happens! If you need it as a DD get the coupe though for sure...

Both bad a$$ choices. But I say the 430 , MORE POWER and BETTER HANDLING goes way farther than a rounded front and less obvious intakes. Either way you win man!

I thought the 360 was a real step in the right direction as far as usability/practicality/expense with engine in cam belt changes.
430's got it whupped hands down with chains.
Performance wise the 430 laps Maranello fast as the Enzo.

    Next question.

+1 on the spider. I only drive my 360 spider on nice days and love going topless. Both cars have more power and handling than you will likely need unless you plan on tracking the car. As far as I'm concerned, there will always be cars with more horsepower.

As for the 360 vs the 430, I think the 360 has better looks (inside and out), but that's a personal preference issue. You will be happy with either car.

Only the Scud is that fast... Not the regular 430... He is about a factor of 2.5 off the current going price for a Scud too so that is pretty out of the question. I have driven one though and the Scud is FREAKING AWESOME!
