Which car now selling can you compare to 599? Does it have any rivals? The only one I can think of is a new Vanquish! Any car with around 1650kg, 620hp, made by a institution of dream cars...
Not really any rivals, except the mystery "Blue Monster" or "Blue Devil", whatever its called, version of the Corvette Z06. It has over 600HP and supposedly set a record at Nurenburg.
Maybe is the one that gets close, but it´s heavier, about 200kg and it doubles the price. Although that, yes is almost a rival.
Maybe some kind of rival talking about dinamics, and I like very much the Corvette for the price but, in my opinion, Ferrari is in other league.
Thats a good one, maybe the new one, I think the 599 would be faster but mainly easier to drive and finally easier for everyday use.
the new cl63 amg when it comes out and i think the bmw m6 is a decent rival at atleast half the price.
what about the new porsche gt2, it's not here in the moment, but when it will be here, it's a competitor for sure!
Only real competitor is the SLR. I'm sure Aston are working their tails off to upgrade the Vanquish so it has a hope of coming close.
You think? I mean the 599 GTB will most likey out-perform the SLR. But it's price puts it in another category IMO. I think the top Astons are it's only "real" competion. And the Aston will get it butt kicked back to the UK very easily....
I don't think SLR will be a direct competitor to the 599GTB, the SLR is almost double the price (depending on the final pricing of 599GTB, but if similar to 575), and the performance of SLR i think will b faster too. Power to weight ratio will be similar, but the SLR has so much more torque over a wider rev range due to it's supercharged engine.
I dont think the cl63amg would be a competitor, very nice car lots of power but too heavy, nothing to say about dynamics. The P Gt2, nothing to do either, too extreme, racing, on the other side. The SLR possible yes but doubles the price I THINK THE ONLY CAR THAT WILL BE COMPARABLE WOULD BE THE NEW VANQUISH, not exactly the same, would be heavier but In my opinion a good competitor. cu all
SLR/CGT is in different price bracket, being almost double the price, plus they are produced in less amount so u can't really compare them. Vanquish is the closest competitor, similar size/price but it's down on power, though a new version should put level the competition once again soon. Murcielago is another competitor, similar price/performance, but it's less GT and more supercar, and no where near as practical GT2 is too focused, too much of a track car to compare to 599GTB, but i guess in pure performance terms they are similar, but if you just want to compare performance then you can argue that F430, Gallardo MY06, 911 Turbo (upcoming new one), 911GT2, Ford GT, MB SL65/CL65 and even Corvette Z06 can be considered as direct competitor, though i really doubt anyone buying a 599GTB will consider a Corvetter Z06.
In performance: 599 > Merci > Vanquish Style: Vanquish > Merci > 599 Price: All about the same, considering new vs. used/street prices IMO, the next Merci and/or Vanquish are direct competitors. Technically Mercedes could be in there somewhere, but its not exotic enough to be a direct competitor. CGT, SLR, others, too expensive. Its exciting, really, to see what's next. The door is open, for sure.
That remains to be seen,599 has better power to weight ratio(slightly),does not have to deal with the Automatic tranny losses and is NA vs supercharger which becomes a liability the higher the revs go. (At max revs AMG 55 kompressor uses 100 hp out of the total output!) So,in drag racing SLR will always win,not so at higher speed......
It's pretty obvious that the HP figure takes care of the kompressor loss, otherwise you could never take an accurate measure of the power.... The power quoted is probably even understated somehow, and there is no big magic involved there Also, such engines are usually free from altitude variations, as the kompressor (or turbo) can compensate it, which is not the case in an NA engine. I would still prefer the FCAR, as the SLR is fine for batman fans, and much cheaper as well, and more logical/consistent package as a whole. The problem with the SLR is that it's a (-n ugly IMHO) concept-car that made its way OTR, like the Veyron, but these are mistakes, so they end up with big wings poping out as soon as you leave a parking space
comparing this car to a CGT is a joke; it may match the SLR, but it will have less torque thus less area under the curve; All we need a S/charged vanquish and well be all set also a few may cross shop the bentley GT.
I don't necessarily think the CGT would be a joke per se, if it came down in price about 90k it could be an option. Its an exotic 2-seater, could work. Especially if 599 prices shoot up 100k, as with 430, then would definately be an option.
The carrera GT is a marevellous car, but usually when cars go down in price is for some reason. This car is fantastic, I love it but I dont think u can compare it to a 599. The F is more usable cause CGT in the street looks huge and intimidating I think the F will be more "modest". But mainly the reason I was talking is the manual gear it has. NOt comparable to F1. NOt comparable to Bentley, amazing car but more like a super mercedes coupe than a F car. Clearly, I only see 1 direct comp= NEW ASTON VANQUISH S
