150 lb more is what I have been hearing...

One thing I really liked was that they finally gave up on that ultra-overdrive 6th gear and put in a transmission with 6th as the actual top speed gear, with the others spaced out below it in a coherent manner.

BUT - (Caution, Beacon of Reality Spoiler) - Like the overprices on old ZR1, and the first months of the recent Z06, I would guess that nobody will be able to touch one of these under about 150K with the dealer markup.

I still think it will be embarassed by the GTR. Not to mention that the GTR will be easier to drive fast, more practical and cheaper. A specV GTR will trounce the ZR1.

That's 'cause the Enzo is much lighter and does not need bigger disks.

I might as well go buy an old school C4 Turbo vette and smoke littarly anything that pulls right next to me at the red light. :) Especially the old school ZR1's tuned by callaway.

How can a 3800lb 480hp car beat a 3400lb 620hp car. Am I missing something here. Unless the vette has no handling, which i doubt the way the Z06 does around the track. This should be a easy win for the vette.

Looking at the pole 54% would buy the vette, and 44% would not. Put me down for 1.

You aren't missing anything, the Vette will make mincemeat out of the Nissan.

I think they have proven that they can handle road courses very well. Here is results from last years American Le Mans Series. They pretty much dominated GT1.

The Nissan has AWD so it can put the power down better and it has a DSG transmission. Also, it's power figures are very much underrated. GTR is almost as fast as a 620hp Carrera GT around the 'Ring AND it has back seats and a trunk for two Golf Bags. Hence the ZR1 is not very impressive. 70K GTR vs 100K ZR1.

Although it should be noted that Aston Martin, their most significant competition in the ALMS the year before last, did not compete last year. Aston Martin did compete at the 24 hours of LeMans race against Corvette in the year sited (and won).

That I doubt the ZR1 will be a freakish monster when it hits the showroomfloor I doubt that some little Nissan will match it. No doubt it will be more practical than a Supercharged vette but which would you rather own? which would you rather take to the track? my money is on the vette all the way around even though I have fancied Skylines for many years I don't think Nissan will top this vette.

Yeah well that does not take alot of thinking. But that was not the question to pick one or the other. The question was would you buy a ZR-1.

The person below answers the question pretty well IMO

However, if a person already owns an exotic and are looking for something else to take to the track, there are far better options out there for the money (Lotus etc.).

I'm not sure how you can make that statement as neither car is on the market just yet. Although you may be right, i think its a little too soon to say.

I happen to have a new 2008 C6 Z51 and its awesome. Really a great vehicle.
The Z06 and now the ZR1 are even better..

That said...The ferrari Scuderia is also a fine vehicle.

As a corvette owner I suggest that the ferrari is like owning a street legal formula one vehicle and the Corvette is more like owning a winning Street legal Sports/GT class racer..

As far as the GTR? I think it will be an amazing vehicle whose performance comes close to matching the C6 coupe at the track..

How many people remember car and drivers LS2 2007 corvette besting the porsche twin turbo at the road course track..

So whats the big deal that the GTR beats the Porsche twin turbo..? and I'm not just talking launch control zero to 60mph runs but rather around the track..

BTW..I think the Porsche twin turbo is also a fine vehicle..

We'll see soon enough which cars are most liked by the media...as the tests come into play here in the United states..

To answer the Original posters question? As much as I like the new ZR! and I'm sure its faster than the Scuderira.. I doubt its a Ferrari killer..

Ferraris are about the formula one experience on the street...as much as they are about performance..

    Just an opinion..

How about we park them side by side and do a complete test drive on both?:D

Looks is one thing and Iv'e always though corvettes looked plain regardless of performance. I promise you anything the Skyline will get more attention than that vette will.

And more people would still fancy the GTR over the vette because it will be more exotic, the vette will pound it but the GTR in the performance aspect but the GTR will have a mob around it admiring it because its something alittle diffrent:D. Corvettes lack the sex appeal most other supercars have.
