Today must be one of the worst day after I owned my 360.
As many of you might know that I have bought Ken Griffy JR's Hamann PG3 19s painted in red center. Well, I bought them at a high price last year and one of his friends send them to me from Orlando straight via Fedex to my New York Condo here at Trump Place on 66th street in Lincoln Center. They been sitting there in the temperary storage built as storage bin out of ply wood and a lock in my building garage. The building manager was nice enough to put it there for me since my 1 bedroom apartment is too small to have 4 huge boxes in it. Anyway, to make the long story short, as they garage was sold to a new company, they(the new company) cleaned out all the stuff in the garage without letting us resident or building manager know and today I got a call from my building manager saying my boxes are all gone! I called the new owner of the garage and he said his guys that was cleaning was told to throw everything out.
Some where in the dumpster there are 4 near new Hamann Rims with new pirrelli tires 255/30/19 and 355/25/19. I called wheel power today and they told me that in order to get another set exactly like it would cost over $15,000.
I am pretty sure that they are not in the dumpster instead they are in some construction laborer's basement. I bet that guy doen't even know what he's got there. Beleive it or not that the wheels actually arrived 3 month earlier than my car.
Calling the police tomorrow and hope my building insurance will cover it.
    thanks for reading.

So sorry to hear about this. As you suggest, I really doubt the wheels are in a dumpster. The guys who did the "cleaning" certainly knew they were expensive wheels and tires.

I hope your insurance covers them as it sure feels as if they were stolen to me.

Extreme bad luck. You should not however giveup on finding them. They definitely must be sitting in someones office or home. Try to get hold of the person who did the cleaning and ask him. He might even have them. I doubt someone will throw away four heavy large boxes without having the curiosity to look inside. And the person who was in charge of the cleaning most probably has your rims.

Spend the entire morning from 8:30 talking with the police. They send 2 teams to file the report and now they are passing the case to an investigator.
Spoke to the guy that was in charge of the cleaning up, he said there were 9 guys doing the job on Saturday and they did not see any large boxes. It's total BS. They also told me that the dumpster was empty out at the end of the day so it's gone......
Well, if anyone of you see it anywhere please let me know. They look like this. Was going to powerder coat it back to silver or black but I guess I won't have the chance any more.....:(

If anyone made notice to you even if verbally that the space could be used for resident storage, and then did not provide proper notice to you (or anyone else who had stuff down there) giving you a chance to remove valuable before they trashed them all, then that is someone's fault, or multiple somebody's fault.

If for some reason your insurance doen't cover it, and it's hard for you or them or the police to figure out who's fault it was, let the court sort it out. Go file a lawsuit and name them all as defendents, including building manager, company that bought the garage, work crew or co. that was cleaning out the garage, and Trump Place. Someone in the end will have to bear responsibility for totally throwing $15k of your money in the trash, or stashing it away for their own uses.

Wow, I am impressed. This is exactly what the police said, they even sent a team of 4 plus a detective and that is what is going to be in the police report tomorrow.

    Thanks.

well guys, I am in deep Sh**. I called the home owners insurance, they said that any thing auto related like tires or rims or other auto parts has to contact the auto insurance. Luckly I use Statefarm for both my home owners and auto insurance. So, I called up the auto side of state farm, they ask if the wheels were on the car at the time of theft, I said no, they were my summer set so they were in boxes. They said "well, in that case we can not help you since it was not part of the car at that time" I was so mad, who would have known that is what they are going to say? Statefarm sucks.
To make the matter worst, I contacted the Trump Org and aparently they said that since the boxes were in the garage temperary storage(not part of the building property, own by the parking company) they can not do anything for me. The Parking company said that it was their private property so anything there they can do whatever they want with it but still said they did not see the boxs(I am sure they took it)
I further tell them that it was our previous building manager Tom Loffa whom ask the porter to put it there for me until I need it and I did not know that it was not part of the building property. Well, Tom Loffa was transfered to the new Trump building in Jersey back in January and when asked, he denied the whole thing and said that he never accepted my packages.
Any of you lawyers out there can shine some advice here? please PM me if you like.
    Thanks guys.

WOW. I had the SAME THING happen to me. I also had State Farm for both homeowners and auto insurance. They ended up paying for my wheels, I'm pretty sure it was on the auto side. I had a lawyer write a letter saying that since I had both auto and homeowners with them, the wheels couldn't be excluded from both. He also pointed out a paragraph that was questionable in the State Farm contract. It said something along the lines of, "...includes anything necessary to the movement of the vehicle," which he interpreted as wheels. You may want to check your contract.

That would definitely be true. Since theft of personal property is covered by insurance, including things in your home, or car, etc. and if it wasn't to be covered by the auto, or the homeowners, then on what special magical insurance would it be covered under?

You definitely need a lawyer that specializes in insurance. It's probably cost you $5,000+ to collect $15,000 minus your deductable, but it's better than ZERO yes?

Most Likely on Craigslist for sale. I hope it isnt and is on a "found" ad instead of a "for sale" ad.

Rims like those are hot, and are probably selling for a quick half-price deal. I hope u find it or have leads asap.

Thanks for the concern. No, it was not found and I often check Craiglist and Ebaymotors to see if they are listed.
State farm did pay me for it finally through the auto policy. However after they paid me they cancelled my entire policy of 3 cars because they said I had my car parked in a New York city garage while the car was insured in Connecticut. Well, I can't have a place in New York as well as Connecticut? the car has Connecticut plates, where else can I insure it? Anyway, stay away from State farm if you can, I have had 17 years of none accident and no claim and this small lost lead them to cancel my policy completely.
Anyone has any suggestions on other insurance companies? many companies out there don't insure ferraris. I recently bought a 91 Testarossa to add to the collection and need to be insured as well.
    Thanks

Best post of the week, lol. I was thinking along the same lines, but personal preference wins over majority vote.

Ken - sorry to hear about your issues with State Farm. I had a similar experience as referenced in my post above. I switched to State Farm for the past 5 years, and they've been great (although no claims yet). The cost to insure my cars have decreased, and every time I buy a new one with a different set of circumstances, they accommodate me (example: bought a Gallardo, they normally don't insure, so they just put a stated value on it and insured it for that value). Good luck.

Look at USAA. I think they accept civilain applications. My wife is retired Navy an d we use them for everything...Cars, businesses, home. We had a FCHAT member awhile back take his car to a shop for audio and they fried his clutch and refused to do anything about it. He stuck USAA on them and they were out for blood....never heard final on that one

Just wait till when you have to make a claim. I even have to show them all the post I maid here on Fchat. Can you believe this? the investigation was harder than being audit by the IRS, They were great for the past 17 years, just wait till when you need a claim that is when you find out what kind of insurance company they are.

I know, I was the same with State Farm. Had them for 15 years, never a problem. Had my wheels stolen, and it was like pulling teeth. I had an attorney read both my homeowners and auto policy (both with State Farm). They can't mutually exclude the wheels (although they tried by pointing fingers at each other). In the end, my auto policy covered it.

You just reminded me what happened after my extra wheels were stolen... I was driving my car, and I heard a huge thump. My right rear tire was about to come off the hub! I looked closely, and saw that one of the wheel studs was broken and all of the lug nuts had loosened (or so I thought). My theory is that someone tried to steal the wheels on my car, got to the wheel lock, and stopped (of course, they didn't tighten the other lugs they had already loosened). They didn't get the wheels on the car, but they got my spare wheels and all of my tools! This was inside the extra garage I was renting at my condo back in my single days. Glad my garage is attached to my house today.
