I like the old Lex Brodie tire shop in at 64-1004 Mamalahoa Hwy Kamuela... East end of town... Empty for a while; 5 or 6 bays; good frontage but a little too much rain all day. I could see it remodled to become a great old time 60's style speedshop...
I asked because the signage for Lex Brodie is....well... different than most people are used to. I like the idea, at first glance, of being in between Hilo and Kona but I dont know where the concentration of your customers will be. If they are off island will you trailer the project vehicles yourself to and from the port? Lex Brodie Signs Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well it looks like we will be in Naalehu..12 miles from south point. 64 miles south of Hilo. Also the most southern town in the USA. 10 Min drive to the black sand beach at Punaluu. The place has a 2500 Square foot garage commercially zoned with three phase power for our machine shop equipment. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=naalehu+hawaii&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Naalehu,+Hawaii&gl=us&ei=s4SCTJ23Eou2sAPJ0_z2Bw&ved=0CB4Q8gEwAA&ll=19.118571,-155.67421&spn=0.463222,0.891953&z=11 Image Unavailable, Please Login
2 hours minimum to Kona! All it would take to make it 3 is a slow car in front of you! If you are totally set on The big island I understand but there is an opportunity on Maui in Kihei if your interested. A tenant of ours had to abandon his operation. It is a complete auto repair facility with three lifts and lots of diagnostic equip ready to go. PM me if you are interested. It is sweet, if I lived on Maui, I would keep it for myself! it's that good!
I am not really a large scale high production shop with a large drive by customer base. I am basicly a 1 to 3 car a year full off frame restoration shop with the occasional service or diagnostic job on pre 1971 cars only. Although we do all phases of restoration work from body, engine, suspension, upholstery, tops, woodworking, etc. I dont think I need or want a retail high profile building. Where I am now is an hour from downtown Phoenix but most of my clients come from overseas or the coasts. As soon a I get up and running here I will provide a detailed resume of our mission and scope of work that we would provide that will include some mobile repairs provided to other islands.
We are finishing the addition at Naalehu School right now. I will be in Naalehu the end of this month, week of the 27th. Will you be around?
That last post sounded wrong... Maybe I will be there (I am waiting for escrow stuff) but if I am I will definatly look you up, Sorry, Mark
No problem. By the way on my last trip through Naalehu I saw a blue Jaguar Mark IV on a truck headed towards Hilo. It was rough.
Iv'e seen that car; it was parked under a tree for years by the main road somewhere near Captain Cook.
I am here... Just setting up, unloading equiptment, tools, house stuff, hooking up power internet etc.... I will contact everyone once we get settled. Mark
First container is empty... Even found room to bring the Giant Ass beer cooler... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Aloha, Mark, Welcome back! Priority one ought to be filling up that beer cooler. THEN you can worry about getting the kids in school and all that relatively unimportant domestic stuff. Best to Theresa. Cheers, Mark
I have been going to the Big Island, Waikola, Kona all my life. One month a year since gosh I think the 1st grade Planning on buying a condo or home in a few years and try to stay 4-6 months a year. Kawahae has a great port and and you can buy in Waimea for cheap right now too. A little far from the bigger dollar clients but not too bad I wouldn't think. After all what are their other options Best of luck to you and Aloha
Great pictures and very exciting! I wouldnt mind giving that beer cooler a run for its money one day! Keep the pictures coming if you have the time!
