    Hi!

I am in the middle of a transaction for my first Ferrari. It is a 1990 348ts, red with tan interior. Personally, I don't care much for cars; Overpriced and slow :D.....But the Ferrari has been a dream of mine since before I could pee straight. It started with Magnum PI and Vacation. How could anyone NOT fall in love with those cars? Well, I finally decided to get one. Why shouldn't I finally spoil myself? I work hard, and I think I have earned it. I am really looking forward to meeting everyone in the future, and seeing what the Ferrari community is all about. I have been a part of the Vette scene in DFW for a number of years, and always found the people very friendly and fun to be around....I'm hoping for much of the same. I am also heavily into motorcycles. I currently race with the CMRA, so my speed fix is already taken care of.

I do have a question about service. This car has low miles (17K), but it's past is slightly sordid. Who is the BEST in the metroplex at a (relatively) reasonable price? This is kind of my first order of business on the car.

My 348 Spider was serviced by Norwoods by the previous owner. Car runs great. James and Mike are superbly nice. Their price for service is hard to match. I'd go with them. Enjoy the car! Welcome to the 348 brotherhood.

Thanks guys! I'll be checking them out for sure. I will also be attending some gatherings in the very near future, as I look forward to meeting everyone.

Now, if only I could find a way to time warp to 10 days from now :D

Welcome, if you want to win our shows, bring the vette. :) Brian Ratcliff brought his vette out to our rally once and the restaurant owner picked it as their favorite for a trophy.

Though the 348 isnot a "top of the line" Ferrari, it's still one of my favorite! I want one soooo bad! The curves and proportion is just done right. Great car! Fast for a 3.4 liter V8! WOW!

I believe it was a "top of the line" Ferrari when it came out. I guess the 430 is the only t.o.t.l. V8 Ferrari nowadays.

I'll give you the slow part, but buy a 348 and a C6 today and sell them both in 3 years, let me know which one cost more. :D

Absolutely agree......I was on the cusp of buying another Vette (C6 conv), and thought to myself: "In three years, this thing will be worth 25K.....You know, I've always wanted a Ferrari....."

So, the 348 was the weapon of choice for me, as I don't care much for power in a car. If I want to go fast, I have my choice of track weapons that are much more fun and much faster. This is to satisfy an inner desire that has plagued me since childhood. In short, I'll be a poser in the car........Maybe I'll hang my worn out knee sliders from the rear view mirror :D

    "Weapon of choice"

That's a fresh way to describe one's car. I think I'll run with it.

Glad I could be of service. Don't worry, I'm full of much BS, so I you might get more entertainment out of me in the future.

    John, I came off a '69 big-block roadster into Ferraridom...also a very longstanding dream for me...I couldn't pee straight at 15 and still can't at 56.

348 is a great car, congrats. You won't need sub 6-second 0-60 times...the whole thing is a total integrated experience.

I would definitely go with Norwood's; there are other very commendable shops around but Norwood is all Ferrari and highest integrity together.

Thanks for the advice guys! However, I think I've decided to tackle this thing myself.

Then, I'll have an even greater appreciation for this fine piece of Italian machinery.

Welcome to FerrariOwnershipDom! I just got a '92 348ts and really like it. Other than the fact that I miss the drivers seat view of the 308's slanted fender wells, it's a great ride. Enjoy!
