Hey guys, I recently asked a distributor near where I live for a WAI 66-9131 for my testarossa. He got me a ZM-576 instead and told me it would work just as well. So I tried it, and it is a perfect fit. The TR fired right up!

Before putting it in the cross reference thread, I'll do a few hot runs and see if I ever get a hot starter issue again.

ZM solenoids seem to be a lot easier to find, at least here in Europe. The WAI 66-9131 solenoid is impossible to find on the web, you have to place an old school phone order to a distributor not always easy to find.

Anyway, here is a new reference (in case it wasn't known) for the problematic TR solenoid!

Sorry for bump, but can confirm ZM 576 works - I took the spring off the end since my oem one did not have it. Getting the phillips drive screws out may be a challenge. I used some heat, but still had one stuck, had to drill the head off. Not hard, but plan accordingly. Be sure to disconnect battery first. Mine hasn't probably been off since new (1987). TR fired right up afterward. I got my solenoid here from below (no affiliation), website says WAI, but it came as LM, but cant' complain for $30 US - https://leeautoelectric.com/part/switch-solenoid-starter-audi-volkswagen-2/
