I checked out the other stickys above and I have an idea. Why dont we start a sticky that contains links to project threads such as Marks V12 conversion, My 308 resto, Hemuts restoration, Bretts restoration, Chris' life long project, Russ' QV carb conversion and engine build and several other major projects such as interior restorations, clutch jobs, etc.... Title it "projects" or something like that. We have a sticky in the boxer section titled "boxer repair thread" which basically contains links to the specific threads not discussion on the repairs, its a library of sorts and its very helpful. These threads are getting lost with the exception of Marks but one day his will too as he comes to the end of his project.

    Thoughts?

Does it have anything to do with all the engine rebuild threads? ;)

I'd like to see those threads too - but the condensed version. With a lot of the comments filtered out. Some of those threads are way longer than they need to be for a technical presentation.

So a new thread - the "Clif Notes" version would be nice.

    IMHO

Great idea Paul! I like it... I'd only offer that we call it "Major Projects".

Besides being entertaining, they are a wealth of knowledge for those who know what/where to look within these threads just as the current stickies provide.

Maybe split it into Major Projects and Small Projects, have pics and text submission format for both types.

Reason I mention it: Even seemingly simple jobs can become big headaches w/o proper info and preparation.

Someone else's photos of aluminum pedal install process helped me visualize the work; bigdino has a detailed writeup and lots of pics of 308 inside door panel removal process currently going in this forum.

Jobs I'm planning and could submit:

-When I install the new banana vents in my dash top, I'm planning to go full route and take the dash out, install brighter bulbs for instruments and do whatever else needs doing back there.

-I'm going to install stainless brake lines before too long.

Others will crop up, no doubt.

Full blown major projects like Mark's V-12 are terrific, a vast source of engineering and tuning information, as are the other major projects.

Leaving the extreme modification, or project catagory, we could build a more usable reference.

Exemplary, well detailed and photographed routine maintenance threads could build a virtual on line how to shop manual for those interested in owner maintenance.

Organize it like a manual. Establish a table of contents, ignition, carburetion, brakes, suspension...

It is some times difficult getting the answers or advice you need by Playing Hide and Seek with the search function.

The DIY section in the stickies is a good start
