I just wanted to introduce ourselves my name is Wes and this is Zahra we reside in Las Vegas, Nevada. We just made our first Ferrari purchase ever ! We have been reading the forums and have been waiting to pull the trigger for several months on the perfect car and price point. We came to the conclusion from the advice on this forum that the best time to do something is now. We worked hard all our lives why wait. We purchased a 2010 458 Italia with a satin pearl wrap. We were hesitant to purchase a car online without seeing it first, but did so anyway since it was from a reputable dealer. Unfortunately the enclosed transport hauler the dealer chose was in a rear end collision on Friday June 5th that damaged our car in Kingman, Arizona. Does anyone have any recommendations of body shops in the Las Vegas or Los Angeles area? What are the drawbacks of not using a Ferrari factory authorized body shop? We look forward to getting our car repaired and going to Ferrari meet ups and events in our area.

Congratulations and also sorry to hear about the mishap.
What kind of damage, and is it minor?

Best body shop for Ferraris in the country is Premier Motorsports in Carson (south of LAX in Los Angeles). Ask for Dave. They are the very very best.

In LA, you should consider the body shop at Ferrari of Beverly Hills. Scott will take good care of your Fcar. The FCA just had a run through Kingman to the Grand Canyon this weekend with 16 Fcars. Welcome.

Confused as to why you have to deal with this. You were never in possession of the car until after the accident. Would have thought it's the dealer plus the insurance company in terms of responsibility?!

Rich at Penske Wynn referred me to Exoticar. The car is now there for estimates.

Why is this your responsibility? You should press to get your money back and start over on the car search.

How bad is the damage? If you decide to repair and it ends up on carfax, you will take a significant hit on resale. If it's minor I suggest not getting insurance involved

You should not take possession of the car if it's damaged. It's going to lower the resale value and make it very difficult to sell later.

It amazes us that a highline exotic car dealer would act in the manner. The transport company will not provide a police report or insurance information. I asked yesterday and was told he is "not on my time" and I will get it when he is ready. I called the Kingman Police three times. There is no record of a wreck/accident or a call in. This transport company was 100% hired by the dealer too. As much as I would love to go deeper into the story I can't at this time.
I get a estimate from the first body shop today. The wrap is torn and the damage is on three corners of the four corners and passenger door are gouged and deep into the paint. Three rims are damaged and a plastic piece under the rear bumper cover is broken. I am posting a couple pictures which does not represent all the damages from the accident.

OMG, the damage cosmetically is pretty bad. It pains me to see those pictures. I hope you get it fixed soon and the dealer pays up...

That's just sad. I know we're all adults, but it's your first Ferrari and it's disappointing this happened. It takes some of the fun and excitement out of it. But one way or other it will get resolved and you'll be happy :)

Can I ask the name of the transport company? I'm arranging to have my Stradale and Speciale transported later this year and I do not want to use the company that has not treated you well.

sorry to hear about your situation. this is my worst fear whenever I buy a car out of state.

The transport company's story sounds highly suspect. i suggest you lawyer up

Really sorry you have to deal with this. But as Rick posted, it will get sorted out hopefully soon. Hopefully you did this, but I would only enter into a contract with an out of state dealer if it included CIF destination shipping. That way any transport damage has to be taken care of by the seller.
