Anyone else had this happen? I had new tie rod ends installed maybe 300 miles ago. I took the car to my mechanic as the car felt like it was a bit all over the place. Turns out the passenger side tie rod end is failing already. There is a ton of movement.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen recently and what could cause it - besides the obvious that the part was defective.

sure its not the steering rack bushing? Maybe 355's are different than 348's in that regard with rack outer bush failing, not sure.

With it on the lift you could clearly see the tie rod end moving a crazy amount when we wiggled the wheel.

Like this or just the tie rod end alone? IF tie rod end alone then to your point likely bad item, maybe lacked grease.

Have not seen that but the market place has more junk 3rd world parts for these than ever before. And some form Ferrari.

Where did the part come from?

@Ferrarium just at the tie rod end on its own. No movement toward the steering box. Although, my alignment shop did note a little bit of play in the steering box and my mechanic is going to investigate that as well.

Yea, I think it might just be a junk part sadly. The interesting thing we noticed is that it was perfectly round - like the old part had some flat areas to get a wrench on but the new parts did not.

I don't necessarily want to say where I got them yet but it's one of the big suppliers. Hoping they'll make it right. They were not cheap.

Yea, my mechanic obviously removed the boot but that's pretty bad.... The parts came from AW and they are looking into it.

The other side is fine at the moment but we are planning to replace it too just to be safe.

Ricambi sells Ferrari parts unless it is advertised otherwise. AW and Rutlands use various suppliers. They are good suppliers but I would not say 100% of the parts are top quality. All other suppliers are considered last resort.

OEM parts aside yes. I tried Moog but no luck, I'm sure there is a xref somewhere though. This is good to know about the possible suspect quality on the non oem suspension bits. Something to watch for, this is great info all around!

Just one side has the issue Jeff?

So far it's just the one side yes. As I said though, the part was a bit odd. It had no flat section to get a wrench on so it was a bit harder to install as well.

My mechanic ordered 2 more from them and they came in defective as well. Getting more from other suppliers instead.
