Hey all.. I'm a new owner of a f430 that I bought about 4 months ago. I wanted to explain what I've gone through and see what opinions or options I have so appreciate any input. I had originally been in negotiations with a local dealer here in Sacramento about a 430 and they accepted my offer and said I could get it the next day.. then later that day was called saying it may have been sold and to wait until tomorrow. I waited and turns out they sold it from under me. I then left bad feedback on their facebook in which the gm called me and said he wants to make it right. They brought another f430 in and said they have all the car history etc. and its a good one.. I ended up buying it. Well... on my way home the f1 was having issues and also wasn't smogged since they forgot. I took it back, they checked the ecu, did some replacements within the clutch and thought they fixed the problem. I went back to get it and drove it for a few days.. boom, the amplifier went out.. and the clutch started having issues and would get stuck in 2nd which my buddy who runs an exotic repair shop was with me and said take it back. Keep in mind this is my first exotic. I took it back.. they did some stuff, replaced the amp.. and I forgot during the PPI before I bought it the place that checked it said the brakes were under spec to legally sell it.. I told them but apparently didn't change the pads. They bled the F1.. and back out it went.. then one of the lights melted in the rear bumper and almost had an electric fire due to wiring.. took it back.. they fixed it and gave it back to me.. Few days later the darn tubi propella tip fell off.. took it back and they didn't want to cover it all so I threw it under insurance. Got it back and had another issue.. the actuator was replaced.. had another issue with the f1 and now the TCU and electronic flood gate module have to be replaced.. meanwhile both exhaust manifolds are blown where my mechanic said the car needs to get those replaced before driven and try to get Ferrari of S.F. to warentee the car. This is all in 4 months... Am I just completely screwed and does a customer have any options or protection from stuff like this? This car has become known as the ex by everyone in the exotic clubs around because it gives nothing but fits and costs money... Would love to hear everyones input.

Sorry to hear it. Your experience is not typical, but then you know that. Unfortunately, I have no insight on how to proceed.

I will say the GM has tried to make it right and covered everything so far but the car has literally been in the shop more than my garage.. They also did cover the brakes which I've appreciated but now after telling the GM I never got all the paperwork on the cars service history like they said the car had... I was sent a carfax saying that was the history and they would look for the rest. I feel badly misled from that standpoint and just want this darn car taken care of... disaster to say the least.

Did anything other than the brakes come up in the PPI report? What experience does the dealer in Sacramento from whom you bought the car have with Ferraris?

I don't think the factory will offer you a warranty on it since it was not sold through the official dealer network.

As BSU points out, this is not normal. You did get a PPI which is good, but clearly they missed some stuff. Who did the PPI? Hopefully not the place where you bought the car.

Did you drive the car before you bought it? While not the most reliable of documents, did you get a CarFax report on the car to see what it's ownership history has been?

Did you get to review the service records for the car... these can tell you a lot about the car.

I don't know if FoSF will touch the car, but you should ask.

Bottom line, sorry you're having such a horrid experience.

Take it back. Demand a full refund and start looking for a car you can trust.

As a licensed dealer in Calif, there is no recourse on this purchase as you bought it as-is I assume? Did the dealer offer you a warranty? If so...great. If you bought as-is....it sounds like they have stepped up to the plate several times already as they have no obligation to do so if sold as-is. Safety features? Yes, they must sell it passing safety spec's but hard to prove that after 4 months on the brakes. Work with them...maybe the car sat a while and these items just crawled to the surface....the 430 is a great car...hopefully get it sorted out and enjoy. BTW, I do not actively sell cars so I am just trying to throw out a different opinion

Possessed...maybe...but how is the dealer supposed to know this?
