Greetings; long time F car enthusiast (non-owner... but that will eventually change) and sitting here stunned that I haven't run across this website until now. Extraordinary range of expertise, authority and general sports car collecting, restoration and racing knowledge on this forum.

Just amazing. The photos alone are priceless. I look forward to future participation - currently living and working in NoVA region, hope to be in position to consider 575 or 430.. my own raging theoretical debate... in next several years. Huge F1 and FIA GT fan, for what that's worth in the US!

So kudos and sincere thanks to the forum administrators, sponsor and participants - you have built an incredible resource.

    Thanks!

"Your decision? No problem at all, get one of each!"

An astute recommendation sir - I could start the kids on a second shift at the shirt factory!

Alas, economic reality limits me to one dreamcar per decade, which precludes his n' hers FXX's but still works out ok in the end.

I have shied away from the 12s myself, as once the horses are in the barn, you have to feed them.

The dealer DID try to sell me a Testarossa at one point, pointing out the passenger well allowed for a bigger ice chest......

The 550 is a great value right now, no doubt about that.

I can understand that. I'm conflicted because I am drawn to 48v V12's like a moth to the flame, for the sound alone. And maybe the torque. And to me Ferrari means front engined, V12 GT.

Problem is, I sincerely believe 360/430 are examples of perhaps the finest automotive conveyance ever produced, bar none. That's compelling sentiment.

So I ponder, and will someday act on the right car.

Welcome to FChat. Make sure you introduce yourself in the Mid-Atlantic section. We have quite an active group, and with spring approaching, there will be plenty of opportunities to get out and mingle with the F-cars.

    Welcome to the madhouse!

To me the choice between a 550 or 360/430 would be easy: go for the V-12. No doubt the smaller cars, especially the 430, are rumoured to be the best ever, but the 550 has its' beautiful classic lines, an unburstable V-12 and all the power to boot. And then there's a good few less of them around.

Now, that said, one could easily come up with some compelling arguments in favour of the 430....
