    Hi everybody,
Apologies for not posting here first, I should have joined FChat years ago. Currently I have a 330GTO recreation that I largely built myself: I found an engine, gearbox and identity in the west country in 2000 that the owner was going to use to power a home made, front engined, open wheel racer like single seater cars from the 50's but I really thought the car should go back on the road somehow. I managed to buy the engine etc., and the identity was that of a 330GT 2+2 but with no chassis, body and interior a restoration did not appear to be viable. I became a friend of the late, great Chris Lawrence and he eventually built me a GTO body/chassis which I spent 9 years building into a complete car. Much of the running gear was sourced via eBay and GTO Engineering were very helpful, solving a few problems for me. I prepared and painted the car myself, tried to stick as close as possible to the correct spec., on everything, had 6 carb inlet manifolds cast and rebuilt all the mechanicals myself. A couple of years on, debugging and fixing and I am now very pleased with the car.

As everybody probably knows, Chris Lawrence died prematurely and at the time , I was talking to him about buying a crashed Daytona that he had taken to pieces 27 years earlier. I went ahead with the deal as I had promised and concluded the purchase with his widow. The purchase was made very stressful for me and it triggered a nasty illness, causing me to have four different chemo- treatments, one after another over the ensuing three years. A brilliant Doctor in London has diagnosed my problem as genetic and the new treatment is working well, however in the intervening time I have not moved the Daytona project forward. I hope that I can start a new thread one day and show you how it is going.

Looking forward to exchanging information with you all,
    Chris
