So, as of yesterday afternoon, I am the proud new owner of a 2000 Ferrari 360 Spider. I went against everything that I was told going into buying this type of car but I don’t really care. I’ve saved for this moment and bought on a budget. Mine is a 2000 Euro model (obviously) with just over 100,000km or roughly 63,000 miles. I purchased it on eBay with no PPI other than me flying in to pick it up. It was an eight hour drive home only stopping for gas and food. The records are sporadic and I even passed on the factory wheels at $1,600 for the set. The car has three piece HREs. It also has a sound system installed that is a little...unprofessional, but it does sound really good. Everything appears to work as it should and the car is in very good condition. It is red over creme with the gated shifter. I intend on driving it daily barring any significantly inclement weather. I do have “a guy” who knows how to work on these cars, which helps. I just know that I would rather drive it and break it than stare at it. Any thoughts or tips are appreciated even if they are poking fun at my expense. Thank you!

Welcome to the forum. Not to be sarcastic, but you will probably be here a lot. Fortunately, there are a lot of folks here who are experts that give great advice.

Again, not to be sarcastic, but I hope you have a considerable amount of cash in reserve. These cars when well cared for can be expensive to keep running. Considering the way you bought your car, without a serious Ferrari savings account, you could indeed end up just "staring at it".

Good luck and enjoy the trip.

Just keep this in mind while you are mired in traffic: "Little noises can be expensive."

    Don't ignore them.

Congrats, you will love it. Sounds like you already do. There’s lots of info on FerrariChat on how to do your own maintenance. There’s a ton on YouTube too. When I got my F430 home I started going through all the oil and filter changes. If you’ve been doing oil/filter changes on your other regular cars, you can do them on your 360 also. There’s nothing special about it. PM me if you need any help.

These are really dependable cars overall. Being a 2001 with that many KMs, common issues may well have already been dealt with. You drove it 8 hours without issue so that’s good - that’s more driving than many of us do in a year.

I am on my 4th Ferrari, and I only had a PPI done on one of them. All have been really good cars overall.

post some photos when you have a chance.

Agree with Husker. Only 3 Ferraris for me and never any significant problem with any of them. Did not do service on Testarossa myself and that was a mistake because of the "records" value killing fear. Had more trouble with paper plate throw away daily driver cars than with any of the Ferraris.

At this age and mileage, make sure you check the coolant and that there's no signs of oil in it. the heat exchanger is a common failure point and if it starts failing would generate costly repair to the gearbox if it fails.

I'd also check and make sure the camshaft variator was replaced. You'd have to pull the timing belt covers to view the variator to see if it has a green dot on it. If it does, then it is the upgraded ferrari part.

Do a search for more details on either topic.

Oh yeah, congrats, welcome, and share pics please, that motivates us to help.
