Just a quick, "Hello!" I've been on FChat for quite awhile, but haven't been active for a few years. I just relocated from SoCal, but my car ('75 gt4 Dino) used to live up here in Napa. I am currently living on the Mendocino Coast, and hoping to move closer to Auburn/Grass Valley in a few months and interested in attending any events/rides, etc. Cheers!
Hey David, Welcome. Where on Mendo coast? We're just starting a construction on a home on the coast south of Elk and longer term that will be the domicile of the GTS. I know of few F-chatters in the north Sacto area, though haven't been able to connect for any events yet. Beautiful and historic part of the world. good luck with your move, EC
Thank you! I'm overlooking Noyo Harbor (see picture) in Fort Bragg. I've been here, enjoying the weather since selling my home in Santa Clarita last June. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes. That was filmed, (or at least the setting, from wide shot of the town in the credits), in Mendocino. But a number of films including: The Russians Are Coming, Summer of '42, Class of '44, as well as the 1971 Yamaha motorcycle commercial "Birthday" (https://media.dlib.indiana.edu/media_objects/8w32rn809), were all filmed here in Fort Bragg. That's exactly what a lot of the bluffs here look like. As for building a garage, you'd have to wade through the notorious California Coastal Commission to get a permit to build one though, and of course, you already know that too! Thank you! btw, That's me (center BG) when I was 14. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you both! I'm kind'a partial to it too. I just wish it was back together. Willits Road would be a gas in that car.
Willits Rd (Hwy 20) is not nearly as bad as I remember in my youth. I've made it in 38min in the ML320, but you probably wouldn't want to be a passenger. Once you know the road it goes much quicker. But in truth, it's a PITA. I originally wrote.... So, we've finally found a house and we're moving (near) Grass Valley. In Alta Sierra off of 49. Spent Christmas there, but will complete our move from here on the coast over the next few weeks. Ferrari and Alfa moved. If anyone needs a good mover "Sebastian" is your guy! Last year when he brought my car up here, he had the first HD Livewire in his trailer. This year he had the Bridgstone/Daytona winner '66 #155 in his trailer. I can't recommend him highly enough. Looking forward to connecting with whoever is in the area. IIRC, recall... (Scott?) SMG??? I can't remember his screen name off-hand, who used to make the Superschargers for 3x8's, (has red Mondial with a duct-tapped sunroof), is in Folsom - but I haven't seen/talked to him in quite a few years. There's also someone I used to chat with here in Grass Valley who I think has a Daytona. And then, of course, RifleDriver is in Walnut Creek or therebouts....
