I just wanted to say that this forum has provided me with a ton of info. Last October I became the proud owner of a 355. It's been my life long dream to own one of these cars and now I am living it. I'm not sure what FOC has planned for 05' but I'm sure it will be fun.

    Welcome Vince!
You certainly found the right spot.

FOC has planned a bunch of things. For starters check out:
    http://www.focmidwest.com/services.html
    Althought that's not all.

Also don't forget FCA, which has Oak and Monroe Street concours and of course their annual meet this time in Indy right after the USGP.

Plenty of opportunity to take your 355 out of the garage. Hope to see you soon at an event!

    Thanks for the email link!
I hope to have my 355 out and about this year. I understand you guys do it up at the USGP every year. Sounds like fun..to answer Mike's question my 355 is of course red and tan. It would be wrong for me to buy my first Ferrari in any other color. I did manage to make it out to the Ferrari Round Up last year to see what everyone in the club was driving. It was fun to see!

    Welcome Vince,

You will notice that the majority of the guys here are with the FOC but all are very friendly and encourage anything that really hypes up the image of Ferrari. We have the occasional dealer pop up and contribute as well. In person, it would be hard to find a more open lot of guys and gals.

I am guessing the DP listed is for Des Plaines? By any chance do you drive around Barrington or Palatine?

Hey Dave, what's with the "but"??? Are you implying that FOC guys are not friendly by definition/nature?

That is correct I am from Des Plaines.
the person I bought the car from lived in Palatine. You may have seen him driving around with it. I live about 5 min. from downtown Des Plaines.
Do most of you guys store your cars away for the winter or do you try to drive them? I have heard some horror stories about garage queen cars. Yikes!

    P.S.
Have a bud looking for a 360. Do you guys know of any local 360's for sale?
    I just thought I'd ask.

Yes, too quick to respond with such threat filled posts... just kidding. Vince, the Chicago area FOC guys you will love as they are more likely to organize a simple drive out to a famous steakhouse than anything else. They really live up to their motto "we drive."

I am certain I have seen the 355 while it was in the northwest burbs and might have even had a quick little race to a local mall.

PS: Wasn't there FOC Midwest position voting at our Xmas party? Was that ever posted here on Fchat?

Oh, boy, somebody just opened a can of worms...

Actually it was supposed to happen, but in lack of a clean membership list we skipped it. We're currently in the process of consolidating the membership list. I'm more than happy to have real elections once the insurgents have been killed, err the list cleaned up.
    :)

Also we haven't quite figured out the best way to do it. Just posting it here on FChat is unfair for non FChat folks. Doing it by mail is a burden, just voting in the restaurant excludes most people. Probably next time I'll send out an email invitation. But hey, if somebody is interested or has some strong feelings either way (to get in or one of us out), please send me a PM. Personally I have no intentions in doing this forever.

And remember: You have to first be a FOC member, before you can vote. Got that Dave?
    :)

Yes,David, regarding Elections.... Well,Basically,up to right now, there was really just the 4 of us,"Founders", as "Active Members". We have had a few more join the Club, and ARE active. And,there are several that ARE Members, but, not active with the Club...yet. Lots of Non Member participants in Events. And that is Great! And,Non Members are,and always will be Welcome to any F.O.C. Drive and Event. But,will not have as many of the Benefits and Perks that F.O.C. Members have now and in the Future. We really Need more members to really be more of a 'Club'. But,IMO,have been doing pretty well so far...:)

Also,IMHO,we really just got this "Back Up and Rolling" Last Spring. So,would like to see the "Original Group" that got it started, take it to the level that we'd like to see it...as in Membership, and Event Participation....But,certainly do Welcome any additional Help,Comments,Ideas,ETC...THEN...when we have more Members, who CAN Vote, then we can take it from there.

Yes,as Andreas said. If someone wants to run against any one else for a Position, that is what we are all about. No "Good Old Boys Club" here, thats for sure! Besides. I plan on Moving out to Arizona in a few Years anyway....(But,will certainly come up to visit!...:) )

But,for right now. We had this Plan, and would like to see it bloom. I think we had a really Fantastic first Year. And,from the looks of things so far,This Coming Year looks to be pretty Spectacular already...:) We have no where else to go but UP! And,believe me...we have some really Great-No-Unbelievable...(But,Believe it!...:) ) plans and ideas for the Coming Years....And,the sooner that they can happen, the better! And,we want input and help from anyone else that so desires. And,once we get more Members,we will also be needing to be creating more Board Positions too. LOTS to do! Lets get some Membership going!....:) Really, It is well worth it.

One more thing: FOC Nationals requires 4 board members as the minimum, but there is no upper limit. So if somebody feels strongly about joining but doesn't want to challenge one of us four, there is another way to incorporate that person.

However my personal preference would be to add somebody from out of state rather than just another Chicagoan. We are supposedly representing the Midwest and I feel guilty about us being so Chicago centric. That's why I'm happy we're going to do this Muskegon, MI trip.

Indeed. As we grow, and get more Members, there are plenty of Positions that we can have, that still need to be filled....Now! (Chuck or Don....Legal?...:) ) Bob or anyone else (Chelle?)....Tech."Guy"...:)...?) Travel Agent? Media? LOTS of possiblilties! What is your "Forte'"...?
