I grew up in central California around drag boats. My father and uncle had them as I was growing up and I have fond memories of sitting on the beach watching my dad race around on the lake. Since moving on the lake a few years back I have been searching for the right deal to bring to Texas. A few months back I found this baby in Fresno but couldn't ship it here until Labor day.. Its really a blast on the lake and whips anything off the start..

Without getting into the debate on which is best ( bound to happen) I searched long and hard for a V-drive. In my opinion these are the true drag boats. We have owned Jets and although they are smoother there is a serious lag in acceleration that isn't present with a v-drive. This boat is also a flat bottom making it a rocket on flat water but out of control on Eagle mountain rough afternoons.

Its a 468 chevy and has two Holley 750 cfm carburaters, an Edelbrock Victer Ram high rise intake manifold, chrome water cooled headers, forged pistons, forged crankshaft, and forged rods. Also, stainless steel roller rockerarms, solid lifter camshaft, all MSD ignition that is all electronic. Its supposedly rated at 700hp and circle raced in Arizona and California. I was told top speed of 107 yet I have only gone 82 (according to my gps) which was scary fast to me..

    Holy mother of......!!!!!

That thing is beautiful. I'm a lake guy, probably because my parents went nearly every weekend of the summer while I was a young tike. Just seeing your boat brings back so many memories of seeing, rather HEARING, similar ones.

    Congrats!

Sorry, I have to say it. We need a video so we can hear it. :)

I learned to waterski behind a flat bottom V-drive. It was a Hallett. Flat Broke was her name. She didn't have neutral. Idle was too fast for the no wake zone, so after a few tickets, we had to turn her on and off just to get away from the boat ramp. She had the big chrome foot for a gas pedal. One hand on the wheel, one hand on the cavatation plate. Scary fast.

One time it caught on fire while just sitting there becasue so much gas gets pumped into the carbs.

Also one time in the middle of Lake Powell the water pump broke, which got the exhaust so hot it broke from the transom, which in means a big diameter hole in the back of the boat, just at the water line. Look's like your exhaust wont have that problem.

Oh yeah, one time my brother fell on to the valve cover and had "Edelbrock" branded onto his arm.

And one time at band camp...

    Good times.

I was at my house on Cedar Creek Monday evening and the entire lake was glass. I've been going there 15+ years and I've only seen it that way 2 or 3 times. You would've had a ball in that boat on water like that.

LOL sounds familiar.. This one is a 1963 Hallet . It has neutral but no reverse and idling causing a huge wake. I just keep toggling it between neutral and forward. Once you get on it though....wow! It burned 14 gallons of gas in 40 min the other day... that kind of sucks! Mine has the huge pedal and cavatation lever is between your legs.. Its not a family style boat (although we used to ski behind them) but a blast to go out and run around in... Yeah Jim early morning is a blast on the flat water other than pissing off all the people who live along the lake ...
