Been there, driven it. Fun for once, but not a place I'd go regularly: Unforgiving if you make a mistake, corners surrounded by trees. Plus the whole track is a bit bare bones.
I met with the developer some time ago and decided to take a pass for a few reasons. The main one is that it is going to have way to many other facilities (hotel rooms, kids activities, spa facilities). My family has no interest in doing these things at a race track and it will surely add to the cost, just as restaurants lose money at golf clubs. Another rub on these "private clubs" is that they are really not private at all. At Autobahn, there are many club events and track days held there. Granted I cant just show up on a whim and run laps but the economics are not great. I would prefer a track only club with limited membership, no corporate or club events and yes.....make it North (I know the land is more expensive but it would be convenient to so many of us). How do you know? Got some details? That website is not very forthcoming. Actually I still don't even know where it is (NW of Indiana is a big area).
http://www.prairiehillsmc.com/track.php http://www.prairiehillsmc.com/individual.php Prairie Hills is situated in the automotive heartland. Prairie Hills Motorsports Club will be located off interstate I-65 approximately 2 miles west of Exit 220 between Indianapolis and Chicago. Hope this helps...
Well, if anyone ever does go to Blackhawk Farms Raceway, be sure to invite me along. I will be your personal photographer for the day. I live just a few miles from the track.
Supposedly it will be at the Demotte exit on I-94 which is about 55 miles south of downtown Chicago. Figure about an hour and a half from the western suburbs and a little more from the northern suburbs.
Bumping an old thread. I heard that the developer has arranged funding 3Q 09. This track may go ahead.
