Getting ready to replace our 61" samsung dlp in our living room. Should I go plasma or lcd? Looking at the panasonic plasmas and the sharp lcds both 60" and will be the main tv in the house (cartoons, tv, games and movies) any thoughts or suggestions?

    Thanks

This review loves this TV but note in the conclusion (below) that the Panasonic mentioned above by nthfinity is also well liked.

The Elite PRO-60X5FD’s overall performance easily counts it among the best TV options — if not best TV option — around. That said, there are other outstanding sets available for quite a bit less. (I’m thinking here of Panasonic’s VT30 and Samsung’s D8000 Series plasmas and Sony’s HX929 Series LCDs, all recipients of 2011 S+V Editors’ Choice Awards.) Is there a market out there for an incredibly expensive, near-perfect TV? I’m pretty sure there is, and the folks who buy an Elite can at least rest easy knowing that their set’s picture is a slam-dunk.
