Paging VectorFrance, paging VectorFrance, you are wanted in this thread.
Hey, I'm a member of that cult! I've spent some time with a W8. It's my favorite car to go visit. I don't like Jerry's new design so much (not terrible, but it does look a lot like a '94 Camaro with Supra lights), and I don't know how much real engineering has gone into that design. Dave Kostka and a handful of brilliant people turned Weigert's first concept into an amazing car with incredible performance. Who's behind the new concept?
I drove the Agassi car when it was up at Milano in 97 iirc. So much from the GM parts bin in the car that should you reach the top speed death would be a welcome relief from the noise and vibration. There is something terrifying at the idea of 270mph in a new Vector. I would do it though, not out of bravado but out of the challenge. No wife, no kids (tests pending), and plenty of time over 200mph. The good news is there is a good chance that driving one at 200 will cause you to get your own wings...
wn is the last time you saw one up close? the car looks like nothing but junk from gm, door latches, the steering wheel from a lebaron, the delco stereo the vektor was a k car from lee iacocca lol
October. I've never seen the Andre Agassi car in person, but the ones I have seen did not have a LeBaron steering wheel or a Delco stereo. The locks and steering column were from GM, but I'm pretty sure that's it.
whoa, I've spent as much time with Vector W8's as just about anybody on this board save one member. GM parts bin? Why don't you post pictures of each unit comparing them rather than blindly talking out your... ahem... rear. Some pieces (suck as the steering column) required a large degree of modification in Kostka's engineering marvel.... these pieces were hand cut, wrapped, etc. to fit the requirements for a bespoke supercar. What you are talking about is even less relavent than having Fiat parts bin used in old Ferrari's... Heck, even the 599 GTB has GM parts bin suspension. A good friend of mine is a friend of the owner of car #5 (Agassi's car). There used to be quite Image copyright Alex M. 2006 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi guys, I'm looking for a picture of the rear of the first Vector Concept presented to LA Motor Show 1972. In State, you can find docs, magazines or others on this Concept. Please, contact me, many thanks : [email protected] a futur concept ? http://img269.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=34800_f2ee36a711_122_6lo.jpg
This is just crazy, who would put 2000hp on a car? I would rather have a 430 Scuderia even though it has 4 times less the hp
Gezzz that also makes me wonder where Lamborghini got there idea from the countach!. Alfa should have also taken legal action as well if thats the case. Many of the Sportscars on the road today including my 4th gen camaro wouldn't be on the road today without the design of the Carabo concept. That design has influanced many great cars and is still doing so even today.
wow, i love how every time there is a thread on the vector, it reaches 4+ pages without fail... anyways, to anyone with insider information and contacts, I know there is a doctor in Bismark, North Dakota that owns TWO of the W8s.... I am within a slight road trip of there and would like to view the cars if at all possible. shade
VECTOR!!! as a boy I had that magazine.. the one with the vector, testarossa and countach.. here is another pic of that photoshoot.. I really really loved the w2 and w8.. I mean they were up there with the testarossa and countach for me.. it's really a shame the car didn't become mainstream.. we could have had another exotic to love and buy Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's very nice looking, all aluminum, big horsepower, twin supercharged Big Block Chevy, but it is most definitely a Big Block Chevy... I'd know that front cover anywhere! Shiny Side Up! Bill
So is there any news on the WX8 front or has the recession sidelined it? Or possibly killed it off permanetly?
Tony, that is the way to live a dream right there! The big three from the day in my opinion! AWESOME. Interesting this thread is rolling right now. Got a call from a friend of mine and he said, "I just got an odd phone call. Do you know who Gerald Wiegert is?" I said, "yea of course, the dude who made the Vector's." Apparently my buddy and someone Gerald knows have the same name and both lived in CA and he was looking for the other guy. What are the odds that he would get the wrong guy but that guy would be a car guy and know just who he was... Would love to see a new Vector along the lines of the original! That car was WAY ahead of its time.
any chance of getting a hold of him? im going to be up through that town in july and would love a chance to see a car as rare as this (or two of them!) isnt it #6 and #18 that he owns? shade
