I've decided to stop using my name as my domain and instead using something "poppier." Only thing I could come up with that wasn't taken (grumble grumble) is:

    HYPERCONTRAST

I've sat on the domain for a few months because I don't really care for my old webdesign. Came across some software (thanks to fchatter ELIM) called Joomla and built my new site with it.

Let me know what you think, and if you have any problems.

    Thanks,
    Marc

    Thanks.

I have some on my dedicated car site (haven't updated it in over a year, but it's there: www.socal-exotics.com).

On this one I'm picking and choosing what I consider my best pictures. It's more of a portfolio than anything.

Check out Joomla. It's open source (free), PHP database driven, and you can control almost every aspect of the site through a web interface.

I took a look at http://www.highgearphoto.com and at the top of the page found "<%@LANGUAGE="JAVASCRIPT" CODEPAGE="65001"%>" readable. It might be something with using FireFox on Mac OS X, though I should not be seeing lines of code. Seems to be a slight misalignment issue too with the header navigation and overlapping the white area, though perhaps also browser specific. Anyway, some cool images you have in your gallery.

Looking at http://www.hypercontrast.com I am wondering if it is template driven, hence the reference to Joomla? Very clean look, and the zoom image in the header is nice. I would prefer not needing to scroll, though I am viewing this on a laptop (1280 by 854) monitor. The gallery interface reminds me a little of my portfolio over at Uber.com ( http://www.uber.com/gordonmoat ), which is Flash based. I cannot really tell if yours is Flash, or just Java, though it is very web 2.0 in the interface. You have some very nice images posted there, and I particularly like some of the Idyllwild shots . . . though of course I like the automotive shots too.

I worked with a web designer on my new site, with the idea of simplifying it enough to make it easy for me to update. Of course, work gets in the way of keeping up to date and adding more content, though it is easy enough to use. My main goal was simplicity, letting the images be the emphasis over the interface.

    Ciao!

    Yes, it's database-driven through a template.

I agree about the flash gallery. I'll probably (eventually) code my own CSS/HTML gallery (I can't find a pre-packaged Joomla gallery I really like).

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm glad it worked. Right about the same time you replied I was re-uploading the gallery. I took the double-border off all the pictures.
