    Hi all, two separate questions:

    (1) Looking for a good, safe etc. hand wash/detail in NYC. I searched the NY Tri-State thread and found discussions of Westside Carwash and Technik 1, both of which may or may not do this anymore (the posts weren't very new). I also found a somewhat scary thread about a place called Detailing Dynamics (NOTE - I'm not trying to "start" anything here, I don't know these people at all and I just noted that there seems to have been some disagreement in the threads). I'd like to get my 308 looking as lovely as possible before the hospital run this Sunday, so any advice would be appreciated! (I park in a public garage and don't have a driveway in which I could do my own cleaning...)

    (2) I will search the threads, but I thought I'd ask about this here anyway to cut down on the number of messages I post. Need a very good alarm place in NYC (or very close to it, e.g. Queens). Any recommendations for place (or the make/type of alarm to install in an '84 308?)

Thanks all, and see many of you on Sunday.

First I would like to say that I dont think that a 308 is going to be a theft risk being it is a exotic. I am sure there is little to gain from breaking into one as well.

Second I dont know if Technique 1 is still in the detailing business but they are still listed and you can give them a call.

Detailing Dynamics is a bit pricey but they will clean and detail your car in places you cant even see but if your looking to get it done by this weekend I doubt you will be able to get an appointment anyway. A full detail is in the ball park of $700 I belive.

Lastly this is not a concourso event so I woulndt go crazy if I was you there will be undoubtly finger prints all over the car by the time you leave from kids with sticky hands from soda to eating cotton candy.

Take it from a 308 owner:

You don't need an alarm. We are thankful that the car starts & runs when we want it :)

serious : if you read all the threads about electrical issues, it may not be a good idea introducing more imbalance into an already edgy system. There are a few here who do have such system. Check the archives.

In short, Technik 1 would be the place for you to get an alarm. I agree with everyone else in that #1 you don't need it, and #2 it will cause more harm than good in the long run and Gus at Technik will tell you so.

Ai is an outstanding outfit and Matt is one of the best in the business. However, he will not take on a job like this. They do fully customization projects and specialize in doing the "amazing" jobs. If you're looking for fully customization or a special install, call Matt...and bring your wallet. :)

As far as Detailing Dynamics is concerned, they are also amongst the best in the business hands down. They will scale their services to accomidate your budget, but do keep in mind that the best costs $$. Bottom line is that you will leave amazed at what they can do and realize that you get what you pay for.

    Hi,
there is a place in Astoria, Queens called Beverly Hills Car wash. I take the cars there in the winter when it's too cold to wash it myself. There address is 70-11 Astoria Blvd
Astoria, NY 11370. it's located right off the triborough bridge coming from manhattan.

I can attest to the quality of their work and attention to detail. You pull into the wash area and 1 person will wash you car. There are not tracks or anything like that. They charge $15 for a full interiour/exteriour wash. I usually tip the guy an additional $5 dollars so he takes care of the car even better the next time. The people that run the place are friendly too, they guarantee your satisfaction.

I don't usually recommend places but I feel safe recommending them.

    Good luck with it.

    Sharif

Egad, no. Sorry Noah, but no. No spandex either, please :)

His business deal where scantily clad women hand wash cars in the city.
The same ones that double as parking valets for the city's exotics.

I thought we had a photochop running around about it somewhere.

I would also highly reccomend Technik1 in the city and Detailing Dynamics on LI - have used them both and they are both great.
