Hi guys, My family and I are taking a driving trip out to NY. I'm wondering if you guys had any must see attractions. (car related things included) Any meets, shows, races, museums ect. Just give me your thoughts. -Dan
Not sure where in NY you're heading but on either side of West Point military academy is Route 218 which is a very pretty and ribbony few miles along the Hudson. There's one turnout heading north on a left hander. This is about 45' north of NYC.
We're visiting from like the 12-15th of July. We don't have a set location, as we are coming back from Toronto so we can go through any part. Jason where are you going to be? Do you know of any car events happening then? (that question is open to anybody)
Check the stickied thread at top of this forum: there's a fun run/car show for sick kids at one of the NY hospitals on the 13th. That's all I know of.
The baseball All Star game is July 15 in Yankee Stadium. I don't know if that will increase the demand for hotel rooms but the city is full of foreign tourists taking advantage of the weak dollar already. Make sure that you have a place to stay lined up.

You're coming to NYC with the kids. Do all the typical tourist stuff -- Statue of Liberty, Circle Line cruise, Empire State Building, Central Park, walk up or down 5th Avenue with a stop in Rockafeller Center and St. Patrick's Cathedral, Times Square, maybe catch a show (pick up advance tickets for The Lion King, kids will love it -- nothing like a Broadway show experience for them to have a great memory), maybe a double decker bus tour of Manhattan, visit Ferrari showroom on Park and 58th St. if you must do something car related (side trip on your walk on 5th Ave.). If you only have a couple of days in NYC and your kids have never been there, there is an almost unlimited amount of stuff to do and see. And I haven't even mentioned the museums -- Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Natural History, Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim, the Whitney, and a bunch of others. Do yourself a favor and go to Barnes and Noble, etc. and buy a couple of NYC guide books. They will tell you all you need to know. Good idea to map out what you want to do in advance, and you still won't come close to doing everything there is to do.
Some very, very good dealerships in the area, including the only Koenigsegg dealership. People there are very friendly and true auto buffs. If you don't mind traveling a bit south FoCNJ is a great place as well. Enjoy!
I agree with Walter; Ferrari of Central New Jersey is a top notch place with top notch people. And, of course, a top notch display in the showroom. If you find yourself on Long Island, come check out Universal Autosports. We've got a blue Koenigsegg on the showroom floor, as well as a 1970 Chevelle SS 454, a Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT, a '58 Corvette, an Anniversary Edition white Countach and an Argento Nürburgring-over-red leather F430 F1 Spider. No need to call ahead, just drop in. Join us for a cappuccino downstairs in the service center. And while you're down there, check out some of our ongoing projects. The 512 TR we just had is gone, but we've got a 360 Challenge car, a 355 whose engine is out, a 360 Spider and a few other things. New York City is a place in which you could spend years and still never see everything. So just go with the flow and enjoy as much as you can.
Yeah I won't be in Long Island but tomorrow I will be visiting Manhattan Motorcars and the Ferrari showroom on Park & 58th. Having a blast in your city! Thanks for the help. -Dan
Stay cool while in the Big Apple and if you don't find the Ferrari showroom at Park & 58th, just walk south a few blocks because I think it actually is closer to 54th or 55th. West side of Park Avenue (the side toward Madison and 5th) southwest corner, you really can't miss it!
