Revving the motor with no load up to 7500 RPM, just for a video!?? Notice how the exhaust turned from water vapor to blue oil smoke after he pushed it way past red line.

We set ignition timing on all 911 engines @6000rpm without load.. thats factory recommendation.
I see nothing wrong with it and I am sure the tach needle bounced a bit further than actual rpm of the motor on such sudden engine acceleration.
The blue smoke is probably from weakening guides but its not that excessive yet. I'm sure its probably a well used car on the european roads for what it was intended...

    Best, Robert

To be honest I think the Supersprint sounds a bit lame. But I must admit I prefer the carbed V12 of the 400.

Here is mine, without airbox and the stock Ansa

    Good day Robert,

I cannot speak towards 911 engines and their red-lines ... However, the needle may have enough momentum to go past the red-line, but the counter argument is that the needle, because of its mass, may actually "lag" behind the actual RPM of the engine and so the RPM could have been actually higher than indicated... Who knows for sure unless someone has done a true comparison between the real and tach needle RPMs is made... Personally, I cannot see the benefit to empirically "test" this theory simply for an audio/video recording.

    Cheers,

    Sam

I used to a have a Cuda with a stainless EPS. That car sounded like a true Nascar. If my exhaust dies on the 400, I will definitely consider an EPS.

On this 400 it sounds like a Honda, true. But the customer decides on the sound at these custom exhaust builders and some people have an strange taste.

I still like the Ansa best. That exhaust really sounds italian!

Anyway, we need to see F400 videos of all forum members to compare. Put'm on youtube folks!
