Hello everyone. I recently found this Forum and the Dino section. I've owned my 21,000km '74 Euro spec GTS for about 10 years. It's still the original factory color (Metalli Marrone) with the OEM tan/black Daytona chairs (in vinyl). It's a very nice car that has won many Platinum Awards at Ferrari shows around New England. I live near Boston, Mass. VIN is 7486. I have a small ecclectic car collection including the following, but the Dino is my favorite for design and handling ... as all of you agree I'm sure! '06 Ford GT-40 '55 Jaguar XK-140MC Roadster '72 Detomaso Pantera '49 Cadillac Club Coupe I look forward to reading Dino posts and contributing when I can add something. All the best, usmcfred
Another Dino owner named Fred, from the Northeast, who is crazy about '49 Cadillacs--what are the odds? Welcome to the Dino Forum! As the last poster requested, please post some photos of the cars. Fred
We've been waiting patiently for you to find us, and now you have! Our delightful community is comprised of owners, dealers/brokers, privateers, collectors, restorers, maintainers, racers, historians...and fanciers of the marque. Let us know where you fit into that picture so that we can offer useful advise and/or opinions (all the better to pick your brain, too! ). Hopefully, we can be of help in perpetuating your Dino. We look forward to sharing some war stories, too; I'm sure you've a few. I must warn you, though, if we have our way - and we will - you'll be logging a whole lotta clicks on that bella macchina! Now that we are on your radar, please go back through the archives & check out the considerable wealth of knowledge & experience catalogued there. If you haven't already figured it out, once you are in the 206/246 Forum, scroll to the bottom of the page to "Display Options" & select "Beginning" & hit the "Show Threads" button. Voila: A sizable library that'll knock your socks off & result in some serious consumption of your time. And, believe me, once you start reading, you'll be hooked. Note the frequent references to beverage breaks when dealing with our beloved Dinos. Since you've owned yours for ten years, I imagine you don't need any prompting on that count! It's nice to know that you have a passion for all types of cars. As you've already seen, the other Fred shares your interest in '49 Cadillacs. I've owned a Pantera. When more members chime in, other common interests will pop up. May I suggest that you subscribe? Try it for a year. It's an awesome deal. It opens up additional opportunities that I think you'll enjoy, and Rob will certainly appreciate it. If you'd like to, click on "Paid Subscriptions" at the top-right of the page & take it from there. Finally, Inquiring Minds want to know. Click on "UserCP" at the top-left of this page, then click "Edit Your Profile" & fill in whatever blanks you would like. As with the subscription, not mandatory; but it would help us to get to know you & be a quick-reference page for the future. Thanks, usmcfred, for joining our ranks & Cheers, Coop
great, welcome Fred, please post some pictures of your Dino Marrone Dino Metallizzato is such a great colour !! Do you know the country your Euro GTS was original delivered to? When did it come to the states? Any history about your Dino? Regards Matthias
Thanks. The car was picked up at the factory in the Summer of '74 and driven through Europe by the original owner for several weeks. He was Greek and was headed for college in Boston that Fall. He had the car shipped over and drove it here while at MIT, I believe. He sold the car in '77 or '78 to the fellow I bought it from in '99, so I'm only the third owner. It's quite original except for one high quality Glasurit re-spray in the original color which had been done before I bought it. In 2000, I did the chrome and had a custom fit beige carpet set and mats made by a good shop which re-sewed the OEM heel pads into the new carpet, so it too looks very original. The seats and door panels still look great and have never been re-done. The mousehair is a bit faded, but it looks good and I'm in no hurry to change it as I like a little patina The Dinoplex had its innards re-done with modern electronics as I suspect many of you have done. It looks stock but is much more reliable now. I'll post some pics of the Dino and other cars soon. Thanks for the warm welcome from all. Fred
