Greetings: Been lurking for a short bit, thought I would say hi. I have a '88 TR. Blk/Tan. 18K miles. Just installed Hyper-Flow cats and Hyper-Flow pre-cats (thanks to Daniel @ Ricambi) and topped off with a Tubi muffler. Thanks to a few others on F/C that I have spoken to via PM, I have a Brembo GT brake kit ordered with the 355mm rotors and 4 piston calipers (front and rear) Anyhow, here's a few pics and thanks for the bandwidth. oooh shiny! i'm curious to know what the difference is between the stock setup and the hyperflow/tubi setup. does the car run cooler? quicker acceleration? i've wondered about doing the same when i get another testarossa. thanks john
Looks great I like those wheels, what make are they? You got some other great machinery there too 993 TT and Noble .
The difference between stock and this set-up is night/day! I am running the 'hollow' pre-cats in this set-up and I am glad I did. It did not make the car loud, just made it sound the way it should. Incredible over 4.5k rpm. Haven't really noticed it running cooler, but it has only been 50-70 amb. The car never really runs warm anyhow. Acceleration and power is greatly improved. Before the exhaust system was added, it was merely 'ok' power-wise. Now that it has been opened up, it's the wicked witch it was supposed to be. I highly recommend it. It wasn't cheap. $750 each for the cats and $1800 for the 'hollow' pre-cats, then add the Tubi. But well worth it. Tony T. It looks stunning, but I'm wondering about the cavallino on the back - is it really yellow or is it just reflecting something in the background?
No...It's yellow. PO did that. Chrome one on it's way. Tony T. Mesa, AZ 1988 Ferrari Testarossa 1996 Porsche 993 Twin Turbo 2004 Noble M12 GTO 3R with full M400 drivetrain 1972 DeTomaso Pantera - Aussie heads, 470hp
They are HRE 18". Good thing too, the Brembo GT kit will fit nicely in there. Tony T. Mesa, AZ 1988 Ferrari Testarossa 1996 Porsche 993 Twin Turbo 2004 Noble M12 GTO 3R with full M400 drivetrain 1972 DeTomaso Pantera - Aussie heads, 470hp

Checkout Norwood for Brembo kit and spend add'l $1800 on carbon fiber glass engine cover... I have same HRE wheels w/P-Zeros...now go fill that wheel well w/Brembo brake kit, see pics of my TR. Stock brakes are TR weakness (if you drive the snot out of the car!) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I got the brake set-up from the Tire Rack. Same kit as from Norwood, but I have an account with Tire Rack, I got them stupid cheap! I am going to get that rear carbon/clear cover though, really nice addition. Tony T. Yes, you could say it is my first Ferrari. I have had a few short affairs with others. Thanks for the kind words. Tony T. Mesa, AZ 1988 Ferrari Testarossa 1996 Porsche 993 Twin Turbo 2004 Noble M12 GTO 3R with full M400 drivetrain 1972 DeTomaso Pantera - Aussie heads, 470hp
Welcome to the group. Congrats on the TR. It is shiny. I was interested in the Hyperflow parts, but I opted for Norwood's turbo kit instead. Please see my post (Koenig, brembo, stebro, HRE) if you are interested in the process. Glad to see other TR's with HRE's. The 547's look perfect for the car and they are superlight. The guys at HRE are also helpful if you need to mod or replace any of the three pieces of the wheel. And Brembos are a logical next step. The stock brakes suck nads. You will be even happier...good luck! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Awesome Testarossa Tony. You've made some pretty nice mods. I have some of the same mods. 1991 Testarossa 19" HRE 547R Wheels Perelli PZero Rossas Hyper Flow Cats Capristo Stage lll Exhaust K&N Filters Carbon Fiber Front Lip Carbon Fiber Heat Shield I too am looking for bigger brakes and rotors and possibly Hyperflow precats. We should start an HRE club or something lol! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Enjoy the TR. They are great. I had mine for 10 years. Now, you have to come out to an FCA gathering/drive!
I finally spoke with Tony yesterday about the HyperFlow pre-cats and cats we shipped him a few weeks ago. We shipped him a set of HyperFlow pre-cats (actually race pipe version with no core) that was actually slated for display at Cavallino. They were the first real 'production pre-cats' we had. Previous units were one-off prototypes. Anyway, to hear Tony describe the complete transformation in midrange power, sound, and 'oh crap, hold on tight' power changes was really wonderful. While I do have a set of pre-cats with the catalyst material in them, I'm pretty sure that based on Tony's experience we'll be selling mostly the race-pipe version. 512TR is still (ugggg....) under development. The first set of 512TR is going to a gentleman in Texas with the patience of Job. Anyway, here's what they look like if anyone is interested: http://www.ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?cPath=175&products_id=261287
