Just wanted to say hi. I have an '03 NSX, but I am a big Ferrari fan. My NSX lease runs up in a little more than a year and at that time I think I'm going to be in a financial position to be able to get either a late model 355 or an early 360 depending on how much more they depreciate when the 430 is released. I also may consider an early 90s Diablo.

After reading the Lambo board for about a week, it seems that most of them take the additude that if you cannot pay cash for your car upfront, then you cannot afford to own a Lamborghini. Is there anyone here who has a nice Ferrari, but is more of a working class person and either leases their car or has a long-term finance? Just wondering because I myself would fit into that category....

Guys, Wlecome to the board. There are plenty of guys who lease or get long financing for there cars. At one point there was a poll on that question.

Welcome to the board Eric. Since you're in NY, you should check out the NY region. Bunch of good guys there.

Thanks. I'd love to see some of these cars in person -- they are so hard to find and even the local Ferrari dealer rarely has a 355 in stock. Would an NSX driver be welcome at any of the local gatherings?

Welcome, Eric. I always loved the NSX! what color is yours? I just bought my 1st Ferrari from Ferrari of Long Island (Demetrio). Born in Freeport, btw & live in Georgia. I searched long & hard to find "the perfect Ferrari". If you want it, you can find it. Why would you want a Lambo anyway?

My NSX is yellow/black. As far as the Diablo, obviously it cannot be a daily driver, but I don't need it to be. Just 3-4k per year. And the performance numbers compared to a 355 or even a 360 are outrageous. V12 with 8500 redline!! 492 hp!! 0-60 in 4 seconds!! The 355 seems like a nice upgrade from a NSX, but the Diablo seems like it would be in an entirely different category. However, for the same price, it would have to be 5-6 years older than the 355. So which is better? A '91-'93 Diablo or a '97-'99 F355? I guess I'll have to make that decision when the time comes and I've looked around at what is out there. My decision might just depend on whether I can find the right car for me...the right color, condition, etc.

Eric, I know what you mean. The black on black Ferrari was hard for me to find. pause...There was never any question for me that I had to have a Ferrari. Nothing else would mean the same. The race history, the artistically perfect lines, the V12. Its just a cut above any other car for me.

Welcome, it is a hard decision Ferrari vs Lambo but, as people always say, follow your heart so you wouldn't regret later. My advice is get one that you desire the most and if later you are not satisfied then switch to another.
Mind you, the maintenance on that early 90s Lambo would be uncomparable to late 355 or even better on 360.
Follow your heart and good luck.

This is the one thing I've been wondering about. Although after reading the Lambo board for a week or so (*********************), and then reading this board, it sounds like both the 355 and the Diablo have similar maintanance costs. Both seem to cost around $3-4k for the 15k mile service. The only thing I was advised is that if you are not careful, you can kill the clutch on a Diablo rather easily and then it will cost you $5k to replace. How long does a 355 clutch last and how much does it cost to replace?

As far as the 360, it appears this car will cost a bit more than both of those, probably closer to the cost of a mid-to-late 1990s Diablo. A few people on the Lambo board suggested I try to squeeze out enough money to get a 94 or later Diablo since they are a bit more reliable than the 91-93 and also they are the Diablo VT (AWD) which will perform better.

How does the 360 compare as far as maintanance costs? I read one thread yesterday which seemed to suggest it was much less expensive. If this is the case, then maybe a '99 or '00 360 would be a better buy, even if it costs more because of the savings on maintanance.

Well, I still have at least another year to read these boards, look at the nice cars, and then decide. Also, I'm definately the type to get what I want. If I decide I want a 360 and cannot yet afford it, I will give back my NSX and go without a sports car for a while and save a larger down payment.
