    Hi There,

I purchased a Mondial T convertible last year and it has been a great car that has caused me virtuially no problems.

One thing that really bothers me though is that the plastic (or foam or what ever it is) that sits on the pillar that sperates the front windows from the rear windows is eroded at the bottom and I would like to have it replaced/repaired.

Does any one know if this is a simple job (I hope so since I am not very mechanicaly inclined) and where you can get this part and what you need to do? I hope you don't have to replace the actual pillar to fix this problem (if so I am in trouble).

    Thanks for your help.

what foam you are quetioning. BTW, it is a Cabriolet, not a convertible. Wikipedia will explain the difference.

If the foam is under the leather, it sounds like someone had it in weather where water dropped into the seals [guessing here since I don't quite know where/what foam you are looking at]

If you want internals, I know of one site that has a breakdown of the interiours: http://www.eurospares.co.uk/ look for ferrari, mondial-t, coachworks, then either scroll through it, or go specifially to the area in question.

Thanks for the reply, I am speaking of the black foam that is on the outside of the pillar, it is embosed with the words Mondial T, so I guess it is an exterior pece of trim that sits right on the pillar seprating the front and rear windows

this doesn't sound like a US Version. Perhaps Canadian/European type.
Why?....well, I don't have any pillar anywhere between the front/rear of my cabriolet. Sounds like have a hard-top, coupe[?].

You need to go to that site I mentioned in prev. post to find the inner workings your are looking for to replace. It won't mention foam, but you might be able to see how to take apart and look inside your are of concern.

No where, in my '90 'T' does it say Mondial-T. or for that matter, Ferrari, or Mondial or such: just a lot of leather, black and tan. There is not 'B' or 'C' pillar only an 'A' - front pillar.

Thanks guys that part in the pic is the part I am looking for. I went to the site you suggested and it is about 190 British Pounds per part (so about $800.00) for the pair. Being new to this stuff does this price seem fair?, is there some where else to look?

Again thanks for taking the time to help

Ed I have seen this happen on many mondials cabs you just have to be very careful when you put the top up or down I cut out a piece of rubber to fill it in.

Sounds cheap - I was quoted $600 per side ($1200 both sides) - I said f-it, car doesn't get driven in the rain, not getting replaced.

I just read both definitions. Toe-may-toe / Tah-mah-toe. Following the literature, calling it a cabriolet would be Ferrari-syntactically correct (yes, that is a made-up word :D ), however, calling it a convertible is still technically a correct description in the US.

I read both definitions as well and really didn't see the differance, didn't want to make an issue out of it since it seemed unimportant.

In any event I think I will ultimately take your advice and not repair/replace this part. Again I thank you all for your help and advice. It is really great to have a forum like this where the uneducated and unknowing ferrari guys (like me) can pick the brains of guys who have a lot more experience with these machines.
