Two weeks ago, I put on the IPE F1 valved exhaust and the cat delete pipes. Since then, I've driven about 500 miles and then tonight this code came up. I wanted to see what you guys suggested.

    Thank you in advance.

Does this happen just after start-up? Do you have an ECU tune?

Came on after driving for about 15 minutes. Pulled over and shut the car off to reset and it immediately came back on. Got back in the car after about an hour at dinner and it immediately came back on again. No ECU tune.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Are you running some sort of spacer on the o2 sensors? How are you attempting to keep the CEL from running cat-less from appearing?

The cat temp implausible message is a somewhat generic dash display for any emissions related fault code. So it doesn't necessarily have to do with catalyst temp. I've seen it triggered by other things such as engine misfire. I suppose it could also be caused by any fault codes caused by o2 sensor spacers or from perhaps even running cat-less without an ECU flash that disables catalyst monitoring. Did you talk to IPE?

if the cats were overheating, you would get a specific "overheat" alarm

"not plausible" is a generic warning that the values being picked up by the sensors (could be one of several) are outside the targeted (expected) range; said otherwise, the ECU recognizes something is amiss. Could be anything from a bad sensor, the connection not being consistent, or I've seen this due to an exhaust leak.

First thing I'd check are all the connections, given the recent install perhaps something came loose; if you've had and driven the car for 2 weeks with no problem, it's less likely to be something fundamental.

The DEIS tool will be able to show either the bad data source/sensor, or allow you to monitor the temp (voltage) and help isolate the issue. Also key to see if it's on both sides or just one

    Please keep us posted

    This.

ECU is not warning you that the cats are overheating. It's telling you it isn't being fed valid/logic information. Sensors can't read what they were supposed to.

I find it a bit strange that it came on when it did. If you installed an IPE F1 (or any other system), I'd expect to see that fault immediately after installation. It working properly and then after hundreds of miles a warning light going off seems odd, but then again one has to keep in mind that italian electrics are know for many things, bulletproof reliability not being one of them.

Please keep us posted. May come in handy for many owners.

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.
