    Hello all,
I am searching for a 355 gts 6 speed. I am a complete newbie in the ferrari world. My current toy is a 996TT. I have read most of the posts regarding the 355. Is there a reason to avoid 1995 cars? I am eyeing a 95 355 gts 6 speed red/tan with 8k miles. What should I ask and what should I avoid?

    Many thanks,
    Scott

There is NO reason to avoid a '95.All 355s have Headers & Cats that will require replacing @ some time.As far as the Dreaded Valve Guides; only late Model '98 & '99s are Immune. Most likely they would of surfaced by now.
Make sure you have a Pre Purchase Inspection ($4-500).Your GTS May have Dash Shrinkage (common). Check out this Site for more Info.

355s can be a PITA, but they are Enjoyable to Drive. I own a 996 also.

I have owned both 996 and 355 - these are very different ownership experiences.

355s are great. Watch out for interior fit and finish, get the date and mileage of last belt service, and for sure do the PPI. You'll love the car, but it can be a bit quirky.

    I own a 1995 F355 GTB and a 2002 996TT.

IMO, I personally feel that the ferrari gives you more involvement and fun. The TT has much more power and very good traction but it lacks some sort of involvement. (You have to drive it and feel it yourself)

On the other hand, the ferrari maintanance cost more than the porsche. Especially the major service when the belts get change.

Well, i guess it all voice down to personal preferance!

    Gd luck

I had them both as well, and I concur with the above sentiment.

Performance, reliability and ease of use go to the TT.

Fun, driver excitment and a sense of occasion go to the 355.

When I traded the 996TT x50 for the 95 355 B 6 speed I never regretted it for one second!!
