I was just thinking it could be handy to have a list of things that have been seen here many times before and don't need new threads:

    - The Sultan of Brunei's 456 station wagon

    - That Bad Boys 2 was actually a 550 and a 575

    - The burnt Enzo in Houston

    - F1 or 6spd?

    - That [hilarious] "deng-deng" flash animation

    - Personal advertising

    - Caramello/Caramilk candybars are made by freezing the caramel, dropping it into the pre-prepared top part of the candy bar and then pouring the bottom layer onto that; then cooled.

Please add to the list, that we can cut down on repeated posts/threads.

    Hmm, let's see:

    - fish license plates
    - floor mats
    - bikinis
    - show me your car
    - show me your garage
    - who is your favourite F1 race car driver?
    - why JPM, Villeneuve, <your most hated driver here> is an idiot
    - Lamborghinis
    - Mc Laren F1 beats Enzo
    - The Scaglietti 612 design

Just about every "vs" thread imaginable. 348 vs 355, 328 vs 348, Yugo vs Pacer, etc.

The pics of the cars lined up to spell Ferrari.

    355 interior melting.

    348 interior melting.

    360 interior "aluminum" scratching.

    Why can't I post a picture?

I have to pay now to post a picture to help someone out?

    Lambos suck, Ferraris rule.

    Ferraris suck, Lambos rule.

    What job do you have?

How to buy a Ferrari at 20?

    XXX Ferrari Dealer sucks.

    Does Tubi add horsepower?

    Check out this crappy replica.

The one thing I am seeing too much of lately is Ferrari related accidents - Be careful out there!

Once we're done with this, how about the opposite thread?

Topics we'd like to see more discussions about. A few come to my mind.

How about one more post on not having duplicate posts. Seems we've beat this topic around a few times too.

whats the harm if a thread is occassionally repeated, esp. if some time has past... perhaps peoples perspective on some topic will change with time...people here think repeating a thread occassionally is a capital offense!!!! chill out people...we need new members, not people rudely jumping on people for a repeat thread....

    I agree.

What would be more helpful is to have a special section where such posts are kept, e.g.
    Buying advice F355 etc
Common technical problems eg interior melting

If you're a newbie you don't necessarily know these things have already been asked... we need to welcome these guys, not patronise them.

Agree...I'm on other boards (non car related) where "newbies" are automatically flamed if they post about something that's buried a couple of months or so back....Doesn't speak well for board regulars at all. Ferrari guys need to show some class. This isn't a Monster Pickup board.

LOL.... yes I remember when you (and others) posted those things on your list durring 2004.
(For you, they were the first or second time).

For me they where the 9th time since I joined in 2001, and for a guy like Rob I'm sure its the 15th time he's seen the topics. But we just smile and try to add something new if we can. Threads take such odd turns and spins you never know where it will end up.

Just think for a minute... if 3 years ago someone tried to stop people from asking a question that's been talked about before? We could have just shut down the chat function in 2002 and just made F-chat into a on-line book. :)

People will keep asking the same questions... its our job to come up with new and interesting answers, examples, photos, and stories.

This is one reason busting people for not searching and reposting stuff is not quite at the top of my moderation to do list.

Oh pipe down. Did I mention any technical matters? No.

Did I even poke fun of my own repeat posts? Yes.

Are reposts a capital crime? No.

Could we use a little fewer - particularly the type of things I mentioned? Yes.

I'm glad to welcome new members, and I often post welcomes to new people and spend my own time to help them find what they're looking for; I'm trying to help them out so that they can avoid the people who really do attack others. Like your are being.

Mark/Study - you make a good point, and I thank your diplomatic manner.

I think that I agree...it is Ferrari Chat, not Ferrari Archive. I understand the repeats can be annoying, but this is general discussion, meaning pic requests and whatnot are probably going to happen whether we complain about them or not.

This is one forum where nobody minds bringing up threads that are months old, or even years old from the other board. I think F1 vs. 6 speed is the worst repeat, but none of the others bother me. Actually, also the wooden F50. :)

For example, I have seen the 456 wagon, but if i didnt and didnt know it has already been posted and i ask about it, can someone post a link to the thread? thanks

Hi Flying DeLorean, welcome to the board!

Don't think that if you ask to be lead somewhere that you won't get help. "Where do I find..." requests are usually responded to by someone - those requests are not what I was trying to get at with this thread - don't be afraid to ask for help (even by private message if necessary). Often a search for something like '328' will bring up hundreds of threads but someone might already know a word or phrase that was used in a thread on a specific topic and find it fast.

When I started this thread I was referring to the instances when someone posts something like the "Hey look at this wooden F50 boat!" thread, when there's like 5 threads of it on the same page. Of course, our good moderators have really done a solid job of closing unnessarily repeated threads, but it seems there are many novelty things that people (myself included) find online and then share here again and again. By listing these things now we can show people that info is here, and resurrecting an old thread is just fine IMO.
