Hi all. I've been a reader for many years but I haven't had a post for years - since I fell out of the market for a 360. I am now potentially back and thinking about a 575. There is one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AS-NEW-AS-THEY-COME-2k-MI-TITANIUM-BLACK-F1-BUY-1293-m_W0QQitemZ150350059629QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item23018fd86d&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A7%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1308
that really has my eye. Does anyone know it or thoughts on the dealer? I am really thinking about driving down this weekend (from Tenn) and take a look at it. Any thoughts on a fair price? I know that many are going for under $100k. Also, I have never driven a 575/550. Any thoughts on this compared to the 360? My plan is to own the car for a very long time and drive it on some weekends.
    Thanks so much!

Very nice, basic early 2004 MY 575M; pretty paint and interior scheme, with three highly desirable options, modulars, Daytonas, and shields. Very low mileage, so clutch should be good to go.

As a WAG, should be worth in the $110-125K range. No experience with the dealer. Like buying a new car from the looks of it. Definitely worth a look.

I agree with Taz. I think the buy it now price is above the current market. Nice car, though.

I spoke to the dealer about this car while I was hunting. If I remember right, timing belt was done about 2 years ago. The dealer was able to email me the original window sticker and some maintenance records. Not a 100% documented car but decent history on it.

With regards to price, we did not negotiate very hard as they did not seem interested in the process. When I called it had a buy it now price of $149K and he was indicating that they would sell if for $135K-$137K. I told him I already had plans to fly to LA to look at another car and would call him back after seeing that one. When I called back I desribed the car I looked at and the price point it was available for and he still did not seem motivated to move on price. I basically said that I was interested in the car but if they were stuck in the mid $135s, I was not the right buyer for them. That's where we ended the conversation.

Do a search on the dealer on this site and you will see that they have a reputation for high prices. Car may very well be fantastic, but they seem to be holding out for the un-informed buyer.

I have had 3 v-8's and the 550M was my first V12. Although I have driven and fixed many more ferraris and many 12's this is the first I have owned and spent alot of time in. In the olden days Enzo thought a true ferrari had 12 cylinders. After 25 years of Ferrari ownership I think I finally understand why. Today it would be hard to get me back into a v-8 even if it was a 430.

FBB- Glad we have a true convert. You cannot beat a V12. I hated it when F1 went to V10s and then V8s. I miss all the diversity of engine types in the old days, with two or three types of twelve cylinders, and even the occasional 16 cylinder. Remember the 1.5 liter 16 cylinder on the cover of R&T? Probably not. A long time ago.

Thats a beautiful 575M. One of my favorite color combinations for it. Love the Modular's.

Best of luck with the decision,
    Chris

hiway, have seen this car and the black one that share their showroom. With a casual look over, the silver car appears exceptional. I loved the deep black interior and the car looks it's mileage. As mentioned on previous post the dealer has been reluctant to negotiate. However, watching their ads recently, I get the feeling they may be more attentive to offers. If you are traveling a long distance, try to get a good price idea before making the trip. In the right price range (guessing $115-120) the silver car is worth a look.

The black with red int. has a few minor appearance flaws and is not a bad car with exception of the engines now green tint from some detailing spray. The black body color is the metallic version. Again these comments are based on appearances only.
Post privately if I can add anything.

I got to say, this forum is great. The amount of help that you all provide is so important and valuable. I have been completely underwater on the work front and will likely need another 2 weeks or so before I can take the time to figure this out and get down there to look at the car. I will for sure let you know what I find and if I get it.
    Thanks a ton!

You might want to do some research on the dealer. I think you will find that there have been issues with the owners. Best off sticking to an authorized ferrari dealer.

I was not able to get the dealer down to a reasonable price range on the silver car to make a trip there. It's a wonderful looking car but they seem to be looking for the uninformed buyer. That said, the BIN price on ebay has dropped $10K in just the 2 weeks since I spoke with them. My guess is they follow a pricing strategy called 'scalping'. Price it high looking for price insensitive buyers then slowly drop the price until it reaches a price point where more buyers are interested. I guess if you do this enough times you get lucky sometimes and get a few to over pay.

The black car also looks very nice, though they do not have any records at all on the car. I bet it turns out to be just as good as any other, but if you are going to pay a premium (as they are asking) the car should come complete this records.
