The Mulsanne's suspension is enough drama for me, I had a W140 a while back and had to rebuild the suspension when I had it, I'm not a fan of fancy MB suspensions, new or old. Not worried about it being a slug, this would be a weekend driver/local wash and show car.
I replaced the suspension on one of my 6.9's during a restoration. It really wasn't that bad. Replaced all four struts and the three nitrogen accumulators. I think it was under $2K in parts about 12 years ago. Steve at Europarts in Escondido, CA was knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly (he owned/owns a Euro 6.9 as well). Anyway, the hydropnuematic suspension is pretty simple and most parts are very robust. It's not like the late model Airmatic suspension with the problematic sensors, computers, and electronics. The air suspension in the 300SEL 4.5/6.3 is a little more 'exotic' (read: expensive and fragile) and shares a little more with the 600. E
Hmmm, college fund for my son or send my mechanic's kid to college? And maybe buy him a boat, too? Decisions, decisions, decisions....
Okay, warming up to the 6.9s. Should be able to afford to feed and water it. Like the Quattroporte IIIs as well, the lines are growing on me, reminds me a bit of the Pinin. I know, listen to my own advice, get one of each...
Hey, that's not playing by the rules. You need to tell us so we can tell you why NOT to buy it and make you feel so bad about what you already decided that you buy it but never mention it here again
Don't want to get in a bidding war with someone (no, its not on eBay), it will come out in due time...
There's an 850 at a dealer here I see every once and a while. Still such a beautiful car, but will wreck you financially.
