It seems I joined the forum just in time to miss the Fall meets/cruises. I would love to meet some of the local members. When is the next meet?
Spring time when we all come out of hiberation, LOL. I would think the Chicago Auto Show is the next major event until Spring. So come join in the fun of 2008!
There still may be an attempt to get together for a drive and lunch. At least that is my hope. I have been thinking of Sunday, November 18 may be a good day. However, the long range weather forcast says rain from Wednesday until Saturday. Sunday is just out of reach for the long range forcast, so will need to wait a day or two and see. If anyone has an interest in meeting up at Enzo & Lucia in Long Grove, PM me and I'll make note of it. If it is a "bad" weather day, I will probably still go just because I like that restaurant and the last time I was there with the Ferrari group we had to leave early, so didn't get to have lunch.
well, unfortunatly I'm not a Ferrari owner...yet lol How many local Ferrari/exotic owners come out to the meets?
Difficult question to answer. We are located North, South, West and in Chicago, so it can be a bit of a trick to get everyone together. However, we do when there is a cool event that one of us has put together. I'll admit I wish we would do a few more drives together, even if they aren't an official FOC event, but a group of friends getting together with some common interests. On some occasions, we can see 10 or more F cars and other times only a few. Just depends on everyone's schedule and if there was enough time in the planning and communication of the event.
I've been on a number of runs this past year and we had anywhere from 5 to 25 cars of all sorts join in the fun. Take a look at some of the other threads from Chicago and you can see pics of the various recent cruises. Most involve an assortment of toys from my stock Vette up to the Bugatti.
John, Another drive sounds great, but may will work for me. I am having a garage furnace installed on the 17th and doing the clutch on the 18th. Gerry
Weather looks a bit questionable for this Sunday but I could always use a Starbucks. Due to other things going on for the past few weeks I haven't had time to go for my Sunday Starbucks ritual out on Orchard off I88. Later in the morning would work for me, like 9:00 or so. Just throwing it out there as a possiblity.
Yep, this time of year is really difficult to organize a drive. Often the best way is short notice and just go do it.
Fat finger warning, ....but will not work for me..... I have invested more in my garage post 328 than I even thought possible!
I know how it goes. I spent about 2x the cost of Lil' Queezy (boat) on the garage and other boat junk. And we thought kids were bad at emptying our wallets.
I have been thinking of a "progressive drive" where those that want to attend can meet up at a fun site (Buffalo Wild Wings for a few wings) then to the second site for a dinner, then on to a third site for coffee/ice cream. Second option is one of the fun drives on roads that test Ferrari performance, like out towards House on the Rock or North of Chicago. All depends on what people would like to do. The possibilities are wide open. We could tour the city and burbs, or just do a shortie or longie for fun. I'll give it more thought but any ideas would be welcome. We are available Saturday afternoon (after about 2 pm) and Sunday all day. I am in Portland, OR at the moment but will be back in Chicago on Wednesday night. Any ideas, PM me or post. Thanks!
While you're there, see if you can get out to Tualatin. When I was a kid living in Beaverton I went to a 2 room school named Tualatin View. It was in the foothills and I wonder if it's still there.
My drive will be on Sunday starting at about 2pm and will take me North through Lake Shore drive to where Lake Shore ends. Then I'll find a few side roads to head North some more and then angle West and then south to E&L restaurant for dinner at about 4:30 to 5pm. After dinner we will head back home as it will be dark and not much to see. Anyone that would like to hook up and drive along, let me know we can find a place to meet. If it is raining, no drive.
My pre-Thanksgiving "honey do" list will keep me from any long drives this weekend. I'll be limited to taking short trips to run errands - in style!
After going to church and preying for nice weather, working on cleaning up leaves, 2 pm arrived and it was time for a drive. The weather looked ominous, but no rain, so off we went heading to Lake Shore Drive. The traffic was heavy at first and then lightened up and with the right speed; we made only a few stops at traffic lights. We continued north and stopped at the Bahai Temple for a quick look. Then onward North to wherever we wanted. We stayed on Sheridan Rd for the more scenic route. While most of the leaves were off the trees, the drive was excellent with much to see. Sorry, some of the shots are a bit fuzzy, but the roads were challenging the suspension. Made it home in 2.5 hours, so the drive wasnt that long and .no rain!
