My dad cruised from Florida across the gulf, through the Panama Canal and back up the west coast. He said Panama was cool. I would do Alaska if nothing else.
We did the ten day Southern Caribbean on Princess several years ago. I actually won it for being name "most knowledgable BMW specialist in North America" by BMW. Now, back on subject. Flew to San Juan and left port at Midnight saturday night. At sea all day Sunday and arrived Monday morning in Barbados. It was nice being at sea all day and getting aclimated to the ship. Tuesday was on to the Princess private island of Mayreau. Next up to St. Marteen, then to Martinique (did not like this French island). Ended up the next day at St. Thomas before docking again in San Juan. It was the ideal length trip. The 3,4 and 7 day cruises just get you relaxed befor you have to get off. The fourteen day and longer ones can get old, especially if you do not care for your table partners...... We liked this trip because it allowed us to see several different islands that had originally been English, Dutch, French and the like. It was quite enjoyable and Princess does a good job. Costa is good. Carnival is too boisterous for our liking. Royal Carib is a can do also.
