Does anyone know for sure if the next generation maserati spyder/coupes have been cancelled? I have seen contradictory information from different sources.

    Thanks

I have read in two different publications that they are indeed cancelled and that future Maser's will be based on Alfa platforms.... these cars are no longer Ferrari kids brother!

Ferrari/Fiat/Maserati marketing and product planification is a joke.

How can they cancel it when it was so close to production ?

And Alfa cancelling there V6 to use GM engines is total crap !

Big reason I bought my Maserati was that its engine was built by Ferrari. Nothing that happens in the future can change that. So in my opinion this should help the value of our cars or at least give it a little novelty factor

Much like the Lancia Thema 3.2?

I love the newer Maserati, but I think the values are going to plummet shortly. Actually, I'm hoping that happens, the Coupe at 25K (or less!) will be a bargain.

If FIAT manages to reposition Maserati as a more affordable and more popular brand here in the states, the buyer for that style Maserati won't be willing to pay for Ferrari dealer service prices or parts.

Ferrari to still supply engines for maserati according to Auto magazine...

Alfa will supply future chassis so maybe Maserati will be Alfa Chassis with Ferrari motors?

Alfa will share chassis with its own motors or GM based motors?

And Maserati can offer lower pricing utilizing Alfa chassis to hit the 10,000 a year unit target.

According to some chatters at Autopareri in Italy the new Maserati spyder is on track and will be produced. A disguised mule was actually spotted last week in Modena. I also inquired at the Ferrari-Maserati dealer in Montreal today and he also confirms that it has NOT been cancelled. I think this is all very good news.

Funny how everyone bashes the Alfa/Maser links when the new VW Jetta has a Gallardo block and my wife's Audi has the same climate controls as the Lambo.
