Hello again, While taking apart my center console (85 308), I found it neccessary to partially dissasemble the vent lever assemblies, i.e. the part that holds the cable from the actual lever. It would appear that the black plastic pivots which hold these two pieces together have a shim which 'dissapeared' on two of my levers during the dissasembly process. It's a plastic washer 1mm thick, with a 14mm I.D and 16mm O.D. Anyone come across a washer like this? I've looked in McMaster's catalog, but no luck. If this makes no sense I can take some pictures tonight. Thanks again, -w-
I'm familiar with the part but don't have a source for it at this time. It's the washer that stands the lever off from it's mounting tab on the bezel. The plastic is a hard waxy plastic, my guess is Nylon or Delrin, but might be HDPE. In applications where the lever is not wired up(ie: the choke on some models), a metal washer can be substituted. Brass or Cu would be best as it' tends to be self lubricating. The OD isn't very critical, could be quite a bit larger w/o causing a problem.
Great ideas. Fortunately I was able to finally get the center console out last night and really start digging for those washers. Sure enough, they were found.
That's good news. Looked up the thread tonight because I just realized that the delrin shift bushings are almost that same size(DUH should have thought of it immediately). Was going to offer to drill some of the delrin stock out oversize & part off spacers for you.
