This, do the deal directly with the lien holder (bank). Will probably work out they way you are doing it (assuming the seller is honest) but to protect your self working with the bank directly is best.

This is exactly what I was planning, except not pay the balance till I have title in hand- seller is fine with this. The only issue is that DMV states that I have a time limit on transferring title- but the time it takes to receive the title is longer than what you are allowed before you have to transfer it. Im headed to the local AAA to get clarification and figure it out.

Dating myself here, but I went with Dad to the local Ford dealer to pick up our ‘66 white on red coupe with a cool red pinstripe. Years later, I took it to college and my roommate borrowed it for an afternoon. Was in an accident and totaled it. Ranks up there as worst phone call to Dad ever......

Make sure not a salvage title.

I hope you get it. As an owner of an ‘18 991.2 GT3-wing with manual I can affirm that these cars are truly amazing fun to drive!

I used to have one and it was the perfect car. I wasn't planning on adding one till the new 992 came out but found the perfect spec. PTS, CXX- the works. damn!! its perfect. However-looks like we got an offer on our house so I have to now start moving. New house isn't done for 12-15 months. Im stuck looking at the reality of having a bunch of cars and no place to park them. stablemate goes on hiatus for a bit. 992 allocation has been secured so maybe thats the next one we do. bummer. I was really looking forward to this but looks like deal is dead as seller and I weren't able to come to appropriate terms.

Dealers have s different process, loans for their inventory go on what is called a floor plan, it is different than a bank attaching themselves as lienholders.

For a private party, never just write the guy a check for the balance of the loan and expect him to pay it off, this opens you up to liability, you could give him a check made out to the lienholder tho, if he tries to cash it then it's fraud for him trying to cash someone else check.

I have always arranged a meeting with the lienholders bank where all parties will be there, write the bank a check for the full price of the car and let them take their amount out then cut the seller the check for the difference, (or you could write 2 separate checks, one the bank and one to the seller) at least this is how it's done in most states and how I have handled it a lot in the past. Then the bank will transfer title to you.

It's not very complicated but can be made over-complicated.

Good to know for future transactions.

I actually went to the AAA and got the process for AZ. All I need is a notarized bill of sale and power of attorney and I can get temp tags. Seller and I had agreed that I pay off the car and dont pay the balance till he hands me the title. he owed 75k and the purchase price would have been 215k so I wasn't worried about him not giving me the title as I would have had the car in my possession.

Regardless, all for naught. deal didnt consummate.

    onwards.

Sorry to hear that, but when it comes to cars we often have to be pragmatic.

As you said, onwards, what will be will be!

Yup. But I decided that rather than get a 2018 touring, I’ll just spec one new myself. I have an allocation per my dealer so that weighed into the decision. Everything happens for a reason. Onwards!

Wow.... seems like we went through the same thought process. I too had an amazing GT3 touring and passed after I decided that I was always going to want the newer one so I went with the GT4 to tie me over.

Such a fun car! I made this short video on the weekend.

May the Horse be with you

When you no to the TDF. That it was a lot more tame, I immediately thought about the GT3 I remembered how you regretted getting rid of yours. I just knew it would be. I am sorry to hear deal may not happen.

Deal didn’t happen. Car sold to someone else. It’s ok- I now have my ideal spec for the next one in a few months.
