I subscribe to the idea of not worrying about the odo reading which is how it should be but I'm not big on the idea of accepting door dings as part of that equation.

Yeah the car always needs to present well on clean up. I can get mine very dirty at times but so long as I know I can clean them back up like new I'm relatively fine. Door dings no i'm not fine at all with that. That said my wrap looks pretty hammered in parts so I kind of convince myself all is good underneath even though it may not be lol. And the wheels do get some odd chips from a bit of loose stone but these can be repainted at sell time so no big deal. It goes with the territory of driving in the wild where sometimes you can't predict when or where the road gets worked on. I generally weight up the fun had, vs any small stone damages which can be inevitable unfortunately, but the toys must be used as intended else why bother owning them.

I wish I had a 30 year plan to keep a car. Haven’t managed to keep one 3 years. Maybe need to rethink my outlook and start planning long term.

Plans always change... I remember thinking I’d keep the CGT forever, and did hold onto it for 6 years (my longest). But alas, traded for another. There is always a moving target, so we all try to enjoy as much as we can.

I think it comes down to diluting mileage on the multiple cars and you enjoy them all and keep them lasting longer. That is what I do. My DD is the one that takes the bulk and I have still managed to keep that one.

Yup, this is what I do/did...usually will have 8-10 cars. My problem is finding time to drive them.

I think it is easier to hold on to a really special car a lot longer. In particular if it holds its value or increases in value.

Yes, I agree, I felt the CGT was an icon and it has appreciated...but there is always another special car to chase...

I can't believe you got rid of a Carrera GT! I am sick right now!

What other sacrilegious things have you done?! It is confession time!

Personally speaking, the problem I've had is lack of familiarity with my cars, through low seat time and continued low annual mileage.

This is the main reason I won't buy a nice daily, something like a 992 Turbo, instead putting the 812 in this role...... its a hatchback after all.

This is definitely the way to go if you do a lot of sporty type driving - that way they stay fresher for longer. Better to run more conventional cars/suv's for dd city duties...

At my age, thinking long term is replaced with enjoy every moment. Habitual car swapping keeps life exciting.

Remember what Enzo said upon being asked which model is the best car....”the next one.”

Another confession...I also got rid of my Speciale, which I thought was near perfect.

This keeping cars for a lifetime just doesn’t work for me. What may be great today may feel outdated in a few years- aka @plastique999 swapping by the CGT and Speciale. I get it. You want something new and exciting.

What my plan has been to rotate every 3-4 years. Let’s say you buy one car year one, a second year two, third in year 3 and a fourth an year four. Year five you swap out your year one car. Year 6 you swap out your year 2 car and so forth.

This way every year there is something new and exciting in your garage. Now the timing may not work out exactly as stated above but you get the jist.

This is basically what I’ve been doing for the most part as I don’t have unlimited funds to go out and continue to buy cars endlessly.

This is an awesome plan. That way every year you ultimately get a new car. I have always done this in my life which keeps things interesting.

This year for some stupid reason I bought 5 cars and I have no idea how that is going to play out because I am not going to be waiting 5 years to get the next one!!

My GT2 only has 15k miles. Not low but not terribly high for 12 years. Still runs and looks like new. I drive my cars.... All of them
