I purchased and received a Nextbase 622GW dash cam. The online specs were very good and the NYT Wirecutter gave it good reviews. But upon receipt and trying it out, I am going to send it back.

    Some issues:
    • Cannot connect both the iPhone and the dash cam to wireless at same time in the car. This is with my BMW which Apple Car Play. One interferes with the other.
    • The dash cam card is over 50% full in under 120 minutes. I have 128GB SD card. This might be a settings thing.
    • The iPhone app is very user UNFRIENDLY. Negotiating options is quite cumbersome
    • The temperature of the camera reached over 150 degrees F ... sunshine through windshield. And it was not that warm today, but the shine is bright. According to the specs, the max operating temperature is 140 degrees F. So I would expect that the operating temperature will always exceed the maximum spec.
    • The PC app is terrible. Connectivity is OK, but functionally lacking. When I plug in USB cable to access files, none show up. I have to remove the SD card and insert directly into the PC to see any files. Very inconvenient.
    • You can access file directly on the dash cam, but not easy to find the option. Once I found it, then you get a display of videos and time stamps.
    • By default, when you first plug in the USB cable to the dash cam and then to the PC, the dash partially powers up with three options. 1) Access Files, 2) Power On or 3) Firmware update. If I select Access Files on the dash cam, I get msg that I have to use the PC app for that and on that screen there is no way to go back. If I select Power On, then you get a live view of the camera and after a lot of messing about from here, you can access the file on the dash cam.
    • After powering on the dash cam, I start the PC application and there are no files visible in the file list. You have unplug the USB and plug it back in again. Basically, at this point the PC app is will not not connected to the dash cam.
Maybe it is me, but has anyone else tried the Nextbase dash cam? Which model? Would like learning from those with dash cams which manufacturer they chose and your experiences. I would really like to be satisfied with the Nextbase dash cam, but alas I cannot recommend it.

I have a Blackvue installed and like it. It is two years old and I know they have made improvements. Made in Korea.

I have an update. I figured out how to view videos on the PC using the PC app. This is really clunky.
    • When first powering on the dash cam, you select "Access Files". This gives message that you must use the PC application.
    • You then start Files Explorer on the PC (Windows OS) and look for a new drive that appears as an USB drive. One you confirm that, proceed to next step.
    • On the PC application, you select the option to add videos. You then navigate to the the USB drive and select the files in the folder on the dash cam. Upload them to the PC. Now the files appear the application list.
This is really clunky. What were the developers thinking?

    I have another update.

I have been able come to terms with my dislikes of the Nextbase application and am really starting to like the dashcam. It seems well made and their support has been very good. The PC App is still clunky, but once you understand the nuances of the application, it is usable.

i have them in all our cars. they are all set on “fire and forget” mode.

records 2-5 minutes then overights. only needed if there is an accident and then it automatically saves the video if knocked.

absolutely no idea how to connect it to anything and no desire to!
