Agreed, to an extent. Rams D better than Chiefs D IMO. If Donald et al. can get after TB12, then it'll be a good game. If not, Brady will pick them apart.

I would also not overlook Sony Michel. If he can establish the ground game, then that will make things much easier for Pats.

The only problem with your assessment is that the Rams D is far superior than the Chiefs D.

This game is going to boil down to whether or not the Rams get to Brady. Same way the Giants' defeated them in those two SBs. And, not until late in the game, last year as well. But last year was Philly's O doing slightly more than NE's O (namely the 4th down gambles on the Philly Special and in that last 4th quarter drive that led to the go ahead touchdown).

When I say that the Chiefs and Rams will come up a few plays short, that's exactly what I mean by that - what Philly did in last year's SB (those two 4th down conversions) were the difference in the game. Had Andy Reid done that (and if the Rams can do that) they can and should win.

I don't think that highly of Witten, I think the only reason he is considered a 'great' TE is they actually
targeted him a little more often than 'other' TE's, like the guys in Miami, Houston, Buffalo, Detroit, Denver,
the list is long of, for some reason,TE's that teams just simply don't throw to.
You hear often of about maybe 10 TE's in the game, the others just block more, and once in a great while
they sneak out and catch a pass, but none of them outside the top 6-8 or so can be considered 'game changers'
that you have to design a defense around.
Problem is, Dallas NEEDS a game-changing TE, or one they actually go to more often that a defense has to respect.
I don't think Witten was ever that kind of a TE.

Witten was durable as hell, played over 200 games and didn't miss many due to injury. That's more than impressive for a man that size and that position.

Plus the game is on a neutral field. KC is a tough place for visitors to play. Crowd noise makes it difficult to audible. NE won’t be dazzled by the sb hoopla. Brady nd Bellychick will outthink the Rams IMVHO. LAR can’t turn the ball over. If they play zone defense Brady will pick them apart. No Kupp is a problem. D line will have to put pressure on Brady. But running up the middle is a Rams defense weakness. They have to stop the run to make Brady throw. And then they have to cover the receivers and put pressure on Brady. Not so easy.

Me too, but that's my personal pref. Hasn't college football had male/female cheerleaders for a long time? We did @ UF back in the day @ the basketball games.
At any rate, more eye candy for more viewers is fine by me.

Good analysis. I think this is spot on.

    Per the NFL site...
KC was 2nd worst vs. pass, 6th worst vs. rush.
LAR was 19th against the pass, 23rd against the run.
Hmm. Lower than I was thinking, but still better (the above are regular season rankings).

I agree with you Tom on Phil's analysis.

I would add not only is no Kupp a problem, I really question whether Gurley can play. If he can't and it's just CJ, their running game is going nowhere. That means Goff has to throw the ball more than he should. Not what you want against the Pats secondary.

On the other side of the ball, other than 2 starters who have been out on IR all season, the Pats are 100% healthy. And a healthy Gronk is not what a defense wants to deal with.

The wild card is Sean McVay. If he's really a boy genius he may figure his way out of this for a win. I'd feel better if Jeff Fisher was the coach! :D

Oh, Paul, Paul, Paul! You were on such a hot streak there. I thought I was watching NFL TV. Scintillating analysis.
Then, you close with that?!?
Two problems with your Jeff Fischer theory...1) he stunk, and 2) no way he was ever leading these Rams to the SB! :p
I'll now step aside and let Ace take a few verbal jabs at you, once he finishes cleaning up the beer he just spit up on his monitor! :D

Tom, you left nothing for me to add - you said exactly what I was gonna say :)

Fisher did lead the Titans to a Superbowl, ironically against the Rams and came up just shy. The AFC must have been awful if Fisher got his team there, but maybe Steve McNair deserves the credit

    ^LOL.

So, does anyone think that CJ Anderson can continue his hot streak? He's been quite a late season find. Fresh legs or something. If Rams can run, like they did versus Cowboys, that'll keep TB12 on the sidelines.

Both stories are very nice. The Cooks story doesn't surprise me. He was really well liked here in NE. Most fans hated to see him traded, but he had only this year under his rookie contract and we knew we couldn't pay him in 2019. So Belichick got what he could for him.

Unfortunately he was knocked out in the 2nd period of last year's SB. Things might have been different if he had played the whole game.
