The only problem with that logic Tom is it means 6 times Montana failed to get his team to the SB.

Maybe the linebackers lost a little edge without their coach, but he would have had no influence on Mahomes and the offense.

Very well said Tom, that's exactly right. KC thought they would walk in and just do whatever they wanted on offense. But they were caught off guard when they got punched in the mouth, and they never recovered. The only thing they won was the coin toss.

It had to have impacted the mood of the entire team, especially Andy. There is also that karma thing. These are professional teams that are operating at 100%, the difference between the winners and the losers isn't much. It doesn't take much for a well oiled performance machine to misfire just a little.

No! I've never heard anyone placing him ahead of those two. You have to look at a player's whole body of work.

I think it's a stretch to say that is the reason they lost. The guy didn't die, he just is in serious legal trouble. I'm sure the father was distracted, but the professional athletes? No, I don't believe it.

I think it has much more deeper impact than KC fans would like to admit.

    Fair point...
Montana - 16 years in the league, although he missed an entire season due to injury. 4/15 ~ 30%?
    Bradshaw - ~13 years in league, 4/13 ~ 30%
Brady - 21 years in league, 10/21 ~ 50% in the Super Bowl.

    Wow, that's a good analysis!

And actually Tom's record is even better because he missed the entire 2008 season.

I feel like Brady is trying to model after Montana's career. Brady even beat the Chiefs that Montana ended his career at...

I agree. That had zero to do with why KC lost. The game wasn't decided by a FG. It was an ass kicking by Tampa Bay, especially their defense. KC had no answer for that

KC's entire oline was rearranged due to two injuries. That played a huge part. Tampa's defense was already #1 against the run so they were good at controlling the line of scrimmage already...now subtract two KC OL starters...it turned into a buffet of whatever they wanted.

Edit: Plus they learned from their loss Thanksgiving weekend and better prepared for their passing game and secondary coverage.

Mahomes was pressured all night and forced to make awkward and off-target throws. Penalties also played a significant role, the Chiefs shot themselves in the foot mulitple times on the last Bucs' drive before halftime. The Chiefs penalties were self-inflicted for the most part.

Congrats on the Bucs' win. I was asleep before halftime and woke-up in the 4th quarter. Too much snacking. Apparently I didn't miss much.

We discussed this earlier, but I can't remember the details. My recollection was that prior to last night, none of the great QBs who moved to another team in the twilight of their career won a SB. Most floundered. Montana got Chiefs to playoffs twice, which was a great accomplishment. Peyton Manning might be closest, but wasn't he younger when he moved to Denver, and that was more due to injury/Luck than age? What Brady accomplished last night is very impressive, dare I say historic, by any metric...T

Yes. It was also the only time in Brady's career he won 4 playoff games in a post-season. All other times he only had to win 3. Also highest passer rating for him ever in a SB was yesterday.
