Iggs are definitely looking towards '21 with the trade of Wentz. JJ Watt needs a new home. What other story lines are on the horizon? T
Not GB - there's no way they let Rodgers go. Chicago is a much more likely landing spot than GB. I would love to have him in SF.
Sorry Jason disregard this, I thought you were talking about Deshaun Watson ending up in GB. But the second part of my post is accurate - I would still love to have Watson (and Watt for that matter) in SF
Why GB? Chi? Bears and Packers are over the cap. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cap/2021/ An interesting possibility w/ cap room is Indy, although I do not know if the numbers quoted above change w/ Wentz trade. T
Hey Tom, I didn't see you for a few days and didn't know if you were incommunicado due to the power outage. I hope you and family faired well.
Hi Paul. Thanks for asking. We were pretty lucky. Our local power company did rolling blackouts on a fixed schedule, so we could plan accordingly. A pain in the butt, but we fared pretty well. Image Unavailable, Please Login Dog loves snow, so not everyone is carping. [emoji849] On the NFL front, the shutdown has kept Jerry Jones from doing anything dumb! [emoji2] T
Yes, it's amazing but the dogs seem to love the snow. Probably because they don't have to shovel it. We're getting about 4" of it right now. On the news here they said Jerry made a killing on his natural gas holdings.
Jason has it; home, wife. Born, raised in west metro Milwaukee, Uof Wisconsin grad, his wife plays pro soccer for a Chicago team. Going to work in Lambeau is a very hard lure not to bite when you're a Wisconsinite. Yup, Lambeau is that special. That's the emotional pull....you guys know the business more than I. Where will he go?
I see Watt going to Cleveland, Tennessee or Buffalo. Dark horse Pittsburgh to play with his brothers. Watt on one edge rush Myles Garrett on the other fire.
Pitt was mentioned early but they have cap issues. Will be interesting to see if he does a reasonable deal to get with an SB contender. T
The common thought is GB 'because he's from there', but I think he's also looked at how the GM did nothing to get help for Rodgers a year ago. Outside of Adams nobody can catch the ball consistently - and you saw that in the playoffs when so many balls doinked off the hands of any receiver not named 'Adams'. Plus, if they lose Aaron Jones - that might play into it, BUT, from what I saw, when Jones came back from injury, he was not the same guy, kinda exactly like when Todd Gurley came back from injury he was nowhere near the same guy, and may be gone from the league before the season starts. Chicago, I'd be surprised. Because of the wife? JJ will be retired in one or two more years, they can move to Chicago and enjoy life after that. Yes, and the path to the SB in the next two seasons is better in the AFC. I expect KC to lose a few players to get under the Salary cap, Balt is a few years away, Clv, Cin, Pitt, Tenn, meh, Indy probably not, Miami, no, the road to the SB for the AFC is through Buffalo, KC, Chargers, IMO. I'd LIKE to say Vegas, but, no. In the NFC you have a zillion teams - TB, NO, Minn, GB, CHI, Rams, SF, SEA, and a whole bunch of teams that won't get to the SB (NYG, Wash, Car, Ariz, etc.) - but they can prevent you from getting to one.
I like this idea. But what good, cheap QB is out there to replace Ben? I agree that his path to SB is easier on the AFC...T
I can't keep up with all the salary cap hit stuff with Ben. I think Pitt wants him to retire of his own accord, or they want him to renegotiate his contract to basically nothing or they take a 41 Million dollar cap hit if he stays and does not renegotiate. Haskins is not the answer, I think Pitt is in for some lean times over then next 3-4 years.
Watson "wishful thinking" Winston "Saints may want to keep" Darnold "conceivable" Kyle Trask "#28 pick conceivable" Mac Jones see above Mason Rudolph "boo"
Good thought as always Surf. I agree, they can't sign Watt then ride into battle with Rudolph. Darnold may be the intriguing choice, if Jets take a chance on a QB. I think GB could be a possibility if they can get their cap issues in order. Kill 2 birds with one stone - convince AROD that they're "all in" on winning before he retires, and add a top echelon defender. T
I just don't give a *** where DeJuan ends up. Mack Jones...... Kinda like Brady in college, does a lot of things very well, doesn't do anything spectacular, doesn't turn the ball over. But also, don't forget: he had nothing but future NFL receivers to throw to at Alabama. Jameis will stay in NO, unless..... Miami? It is implied Watt wants to go to a winner - someone capable of going to the SB in the next year or two, and that's not Pittsburgh no how no way.
DeJuan?!? Who's that? Do you mean Deshaun Watson? You don't think Pitt has the potential make deep playoff runs in the next few years (assuming Ben R can continue to perform @ a high level)? Do you agree that path to SB is easier in the AFC vs NFC? T
