Not so fast. Did you see the opening play of the second half? No facemask called that would have negated Cincys TD

I'm surprised they gave MVP to Kupp.

Stafford should have gotten it. He delivered when it counted.

Burrow is Garoppolo 2.0. The Cincy defense stopped LA all 2nd half and he couldn't drive them down for another touchdown? His only plays were all the receiver making the play. 1st half Chase one handed catch. 2nd half missed facemask that gave them a TD.

The difference is when. Critical calls that directly impact the final drive(s) of a game shouldn’t be without review… particularly pass interference calls.

And he delivered it straight to Kupp! On that drive, where they trying to cover him with an LB?!?

I thought Donald would get it.

That's a bit harsh. He needs some seasoning to grow into Jimmy G's shoes!

Well the Rams defense woke up in the second half, and also I think it is unfortunately likely that Burrow tore a ligament in his right knee on one of the times he was sacked. Looked to barely be able to move and was just lobbing up his passes from that point so that he wouldn't have to plant on that knee.

It was the formation. They usually line Kupp up in the slot, which allowed the Bengals to assign someone to chip and push him at the line. They lined Kupp up outside in a flank position off the line, which allowed him to get moving, deke inside and fade out. If the ball is thrown well, almost impossible to defend successfully. Getting a 2-yard headstart defeated any attempts to impede him. The way they lined him up on the touchdown that was called back also led to him being open. Kupp has a great way of keeping his head down and running to the spot instead of looking up and back at the QB, which tells the DB the ball will be coming. That's why he gets open so much over the middle, he doesn't let them know the ball is there. I'm going to imagine a lot more coaches will run film on his technique to kids coming up.

Do you have anything positive to say about anybody or anything?

There other missed calls by both sides, this one was missed too, oh well.

No matter WHO got the MVP someone would whine.

The Rams DL played the second half totally different - they put five
on the line instead of four and played the 'slide game' - something they did
not do in the first half - and the Cinci OL was finally exposed.
    That's not Burrows' fault.

    ^THIS!

But it was throughout the entire playoffs. The "holds" that mysteriously were called on big plays, the whistle that went off in the Raiders game that they still allowed, "Roughing the passer" calls at critical times, Pass Interference making the last 2 minutes of every game a joke, and even timely "defensive encroachment" at just the most critical time.

Also some of the ball spotting was very fishy.

Something looked weird this season. Maybe the NFL needs new blood or a few more systems. This playoff season was the worst ever for officiating.

I'm not saying it was one grand conspiracy but I am saying officiating was done poorly this year

I can tell you, being there that fans were not happy with the late calls. It was not consistent with how the first 58 minutes were called. The last 2 minutes will give much life to those whom think the nfl is loosely scripted with the officials controlling the outcome. That said, the rams have been screwed out of the super bowl due to a bad call just a few years back. It’s all entertainment at the end of the day as opposed to a sport when it come to the nfl. It seems like a bengals win was not the preferred outcome for the books and casinos.

Cincy needs to protect this guy or he won't last. He was sacked 8 times and still almost pulled off the win.

And here I thought we were watching professional sports, where these billion dollar teams are paying millions of $$ to their players to win. My apologies, let's hear it for the Bengals....E for EFFORT....everyone on 3...HIP HIP HOOOORRAAAAAYYY HIP HIP HOOOORAAAAYYYY HIP HIP HOOOORAAAAAYYYY!! Do you feel better now?

The real question is, do you have a reading comprehension problem? Because:

Did you even read what I was responding to? I wasn't complaining about the officiating, I was pointing out EXACTLY what you are saying here, that calls were missed on both sides when JAM1 mentioned the officials hosed the Bengals here:

But, typical of you, you seem to attack only my content (not that it bothers me, nor do I care). I've seen others here post the same stuff I do, but you don't respond to them.

Here is some advice for you: Dude, lighten up, I hope I'm not grumpy like you when I get to your age.

I just want them to be consistent - consistent good, consistent bad, but pick one.

Part of the issue is over the last 30 years we now have broadcast staff that questions everything,
we have microscopic camera lenses that can see the last 1/4 of an inch, so instead of just
watching a game, we have scientists that dissect every last thing.

Yeah, I know it's a high-dollar sport - they ALL are - but geez, can't we just enjoy it for what it is?

It seems to be no different than the 'news' - drill down beyond what we see - question everything, I don't like it.
No, I don't mean I bury my head in the sand, I just want to watch a frickin game....

That surprises me. But I'm guessing there was more interest from So Cal viewers than usual than if 2 East Coast teams were playing. "Fair weather NFL fans"

Then again, it could go hand in hand with the growth of gambling. More people having a financial interest in the outcome even if they don't care about the teams playing. Vegas scored a ton of money on the SB.

Just from a TV audience perspective:

Imagine if Cinci played AZ in the SB?
    Or Tenn played Minn?
Or Dallas vs Vegas? ( think Dallas' ship has sailed - until they dump Zeke)
    Atl vs NE (minus Brady)?

I have no idea which two teams would draw the most TV fans?
You would think a NY-Chi-LA combo, but who knows?

Horror of all horrors - what if the SB was the Chargers v the Rams?
or even the Jets v the Giants?
I'm speaking of a TV audience - not the actual team framework.

NY vs Vegas. That would probably get the biggest potential audience.

What if it was Rams vs Raiders? I have no doubt who'd be the bigger fan draw in SoFi!

The likelihood that either of the two Jersey teams making it back to the Super Bowl in our lifetimes is miniscule!
